Requirements
  • Grade 12 diploma.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in an insurance role.
  • Working towards your CIP designation would be an asset.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting or related post-secondary education is an asset.
Responsibilities
  • Report to the Director of Underwriting Operations.
  • Verify policy transactions and make necessary adjustments immediately, and effectively communicate to Agency and members.
  • Identify and obtain additional information required to conduct a proper risk analysis.
  • Use sound judgement and reasoning to make informed risk selection decisions.
  • Review claims and take appropriate underwriting action.
  • Responsible for delivering service that supports our TYLF (Treat You Like Friends & Family) culture, while ensuring underwriting integrity.
  • Determine how to handle exceptional situations by actively listening to members’ needs and finding appropriate solutions.
  • Deliver innovative, forward-thinking solutions and coverage.
  • Identify gaps in coverage and offer recommendations where suitable.
  • Articulate decision-making reasoning to advisors to assist with effective communication to the member.
  • Communicate decisions in an empathetic and professional manner.
  • Work collaboratively with Underwriting teams, Claims, Agency and other internal departments to improve relations and achieve common goals.
  • Provide prompt, consistent and exceptional service.
  • Confidently respond to and resolve inquiries.
