Equip launches protocol to bridge hospital discharge and at-home eating disorder recovery

Equip, a US-based virtual eating disorder treatment provider, has launched Equip Transition Track, a protocol enabling medically stable patients aged 6–24 to step down from inpatient care directly to home. The protocol combines frequent Family-Based Treatment sessions, daily meal supervision, and wraparound care from a multidisciplinary team. Grounded in Family-Based Treatment, the gold standard for youth eating disorder care, Transition Track delivers intensive clinical support during the high-risk weeks following hospital discharge. It provides 12 months of continuous care from the same team. Over 90% of Equip's nearly 6,000 medically stable patients with severe eating disorders avoided discharge to higher levels of care over the past two years. Three in four achieved minimal or subclinical symptom levels within six months.
