Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Athletic Training or Physiology is required.
  • Current licensure as an Athletic Trainer is required in the state where services are provided, including the applicable Ohio or West Virginia licensing board.
  • National certification as an Athletic Trainer through the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer is required.
  • The employee must be able to lift 50 pounds and stand for prolonged periods.
  • The role requires excellent written and verbal communication, active listening, critical thinking, judgment and decision making, monitoring, problem sensitivity, deductive reasoning, inductive reasoning, oral comprehension, and near vision.
  • The role requires compliance with HIPAA, state regulations, and organizational policies.
Responsibilities
  • Provide on-site injury prevention, taping, bracing, and warm-up supervision before practices and games.
  • Respond to acute injuries and emergencies during practices and games.
  • Conduct injury evaluations, coordinate referrals, and communicate with parents, coaches, and physicians.
  • Manage concussion protocols, return-to-play progression, and hydration and heat-illness monitoring.
  • Travel with teams as needed, often working afternoons, evenings, and weekends.
  • Conduct musculoskeletal assessments using clinical and functional testing.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
  • Coordinate referrals to physicians, physical therapists, or specialists when necessary.
  • Administer therapeutic exercises and modalities to promote healing.
  • Track progress and adjust plans based on patient or athlete recovery status.
  • Educate athletes and others on injury prevention and safe return-to-activity protocols.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate treatment records.
  • Communicate regularly with medical professionals, coaches, parents, and patients.
  • Serve as a resource for injury prevention and athletic health education.
  • Determine fitness for participation during the preseason and after injury.
  • Assist in the selection and fitting of protective equipment.
  • Maintain an effective and efficient athletic training room, equipment, and related implements.
Desired Qualifications
  • Two years of experience in athletic training.
