Senior/Principal DevOps Engineer
About the job
- Experience providing hands-on support for large-scale, public-facing production environments running on UNIX/Linux virtual platforms and AWS containers.
- Required experience with Bash or other scripting, including shell, Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Python, or Ruby.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work in AWS and containerized environments.
- Build, monitor, and support AWS and colocation-based infrastructure powering client websites.
- Build Linux machines, install software, and deploy machines globally.
- Manage infrastructure, monitor systems, and respond to alerts 24x7x365.
- Support high-traffic website hosting environments and troubleshoot production issues.
- Create runbooks and train staff to troubleshoot and handle unexpected problems.
- Transition production environments from colocated bare metal to the cloud.
- Maximize cost and performance through AWS cost analysis.
- Integrate with and troubleshoot Akamai and other content delivery network providers.
- Debug DNS, routing, bandwidth, and virtual private network problems.
- Experience with AWS Elastic Compute Cloud hosting, Elastic Load Balancing, auto-scaling, and certificate management.
- Experience with AWS CloudWatch and AWS APIs.
- Experience with cloud automation tools such as CloudFormation and Terraform.
- Experience with high-traffic website hosting solutions, Apache configurations, log analysis, and load balancers.
- Experience with centralized user management schemes.
- Experience with disaster recovery scenarios and periodic testing and validation of recovery strategies.
- Experience working in continuous integration, continuous delivery, continuous deployment, and continuous monitoring environments.
- Experience with Akamai content delivery network and other content delivery network providers.
- Experience with Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard and other security-related standards and audit proceedings.
- Experience with Node.js.
