About the job

Requirements
  • At least 5 years of experience as a software engineer, manufacturing systems engineer, industrial software engineer, solutions engineer, or similar hands-on engineering role, with a strong background in building production software, integrating systems, and working across application, cloud, edge, and data layers.
  • Demonstrated experience with manufacturing environments, automation systems, plant-floor data, MES integrations, industrial equipment, quality systems, maintenance workflows, or production operations.
  • Hands-on familiarity with IIoT architectures, MQTT, OPC-UA, edge gateways, industrial protocols, event-driven architectures, time-series data, sensor data ingestion, and secure connectivity between plant-floor systems and cloud platforms.
  • Ability to build or support manufacturing analytics for OEE, throughput, downtime, cycle time, bottleneck detection, quality, scrap, traceability, energy consumption, and asset performance.
  • Experience turning noisy operational data into trusted metrics, dashboards, alerts, and decision-support tools.
  • Experience with Go, Python, TypeScript, API design, OpenShift, GCP or comparable cloud platforms, containerized services, infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, observability, and secure production operations.
  • Comfort working in fast-changing manufacturing environments, spending time onsite with operators and engineers, troubleshooting real systems, and balancing speed with safety, reliability, cybersecurity, secure access, maintainability, and uptime in highly controlled production environments.
  • Ability to translate between software engineering, controls, operations, quality, maintenance, product, and business stakeholders as a hands-on individual contributor.
  • Ability to operate with minimal process and significant latitude, own the consequences of shipped work, and help build the playbook for software-defined manufacturing.
Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and deploy software systems connecting automated equipment, sensors, PLC-adjacent data, MES workflows, quality systems, warehouse systems, and cloud platforms.
  • Design and operate IIoT architectures, MQTT messaging, OPC-UA connectivity, edge gateways, time-series data, event-driven systems, and manufacturing data models to move trustworthy data into applications, analytics, and decision-making workflows.
  • Work directly with manufacturing operations, controls, maintenance, quality, process engineering, product, and business stakeholders to understand production problems and deliver software that works in facility environments.
  • Build manufacturing analytics and operational intelligence for throughput, uptime, downtime, OEE, quality, scrap, traceability, cycle time, bottlenecks, energy usage, and launch readiness; turn industrial data into insights, alerts, dashboards, models, and workflows that improve operations.
  • Own delivery across application engineering, cloud infrastructure, edge deployment, integrations, automation, observability, and production support.
  • Deliver production-ready systems while accounting for safety, reliability, change control, cybersecurity, secure access, network segmentation, data protection, uptime, latency, data quality, maintainability, and the operational consequences of software deployed near physical processes.
  • Design and operate solutions for highly secured manufacturing environments, including identity, access control, secrets management, network boundaries, auditability, vulnerability management, and secure software delivery.
  • Apply generative AI, applied machine learning, anomaly detection, predictive analytics, intelligent automation, and AI-assisted development where they create measurable manufacturing value, with a clear operational purpose, cost justification, and safe-adoption path.
  • Contribute high-quality design and code, participate in architecture and code reviews, define durable industrial integration patterns, and help establish software, data, security, and deployment standards for scaling highly automated facilities.
Desired Qualifications
  • Familiarity with highly automated facilities, controls-adjacent systems, and launch or ramp environments.
  • Experience with identity and access management, secrets handling, vulnerability remediation, audit logging, network controls, and secure deployment practices in highly secured environments.
  • Experience with data platforms, streaming architectures, and AI/ML-enabled automation.

Six high-yield dividend stocks fail the payout test, from Ford to Whirlpool's 9.37% mirage

High dividend yields can hide weak payouts, and a four-step test helps separate real income from traps. It checks earnings with one-offs stripped out, full-year free cash flow against dividends, management's explanation, and whether debt funds the gap. Ford yields 4.99% and shows a trailing EPS of -$1.88, caused by $4.2B in one-time charges. Its debt-to-equity of 4.66 leaves the $0.60 dividend exposed to a downturn. Pfizer yields 6.03%, but its free cash flow yield is 5.60%. Clorox's roughly $405M of free cash flow fell short of about $601M in dividends. Whirlpool fails every step. It cut its quarterly dividend from $1.75 to $0.90 in 2025, paid no common dividend in the second quarter of 2026, and its shares are down 59.48% since the end of 2025. 3M and Dow pass, with payouts now covered by cash.

UPS, Pfizer, Kraft Heinz and Ford dividends at risk as payouts outstrip earnings

Four blue chip companies, UPS, Pfizer, Kraft Heinz, and Ford, may struggle to sustain their dividends, according to an analysis of their earnings, cash flow, and debt. UPS yields 7.02% and pays out about 121% of its GAAP earnings. Pfizer yields 6.10%, with a GAAP payout ratio of about 226%; its 2025 free cash flow of $9.076 billion fell short of $9.771 billion in dividends. Kraft Heinz yields 6.82%, but its trailing GAAP earnings per share are −$2.88 after $7.4 billion in impairments. Ford yields 4.98% after an $8.162 billion loss in 2025, and its debt-to-equity ratio is 4.66. All four companies say their payouts are safe, and each points to adjusted earnings guidance that covers the dividend.

Seven S&P 500 stocks need 200%+ rallies to reclaim all-time highs

Seven major S&P 500 companies with market capitalizations exceeding $20 billion need to rally at least 200% to reach their previous all-time highs, according to Bespoke. The struggling firms include PG&E, PayPal, Ford, Nike, Las Vegas Sands, Zoetis, and Crown Castle. Nike has experienced particularly poor performance, with the company's stock trading at record lows and its dividend yield approaching 5%. Recent quarterly results showed Nike Brand sales fell 4%, online sales dropped 13%, Converse sales declined 28%, and China sales crashed 26%. CEO Elliott Hill indicated that weakness in the sportswear market would persist. PayPal faces intense competition in the payments sector. New CEO Enrique Lores reportedly declined a buyout offer from Stripe and will focus on cost reductions and improving customer experience.
