About the job

Requirements
  • A Master of Science or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, or Graphics, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Hands-on experience with simulation stacks such as MuJoCo, Isaac Sim, Isaac Lab, SAPIEN, Omniverse, or Blender for robotics or graphics.
  • Experience with procedural scene or asset generation, domain randomization, or photorealistic rendering pipelines at scale.
  • Familiarity with training or evaluating manipulation or loco-manipulation policies, including imitation learning, vision-language-action models, diffusion models, or reinforcement learning.
  • Strong Python skills and comfort with PyTorch or JAX for model training and evaluation.
  • Ability to define an independent research agenda and exercise judgment about where simulation provides the most leverage.
Responsibilities
  • Build an end-to-end pipeline that reconstructs facility-scale real environments into simulation using 3D reconstruction and photorealistic re-rendering.
  • Procedurally generate navigable environments, including layouts, obstacles, and object placement, to stress-test loco-manipulation policies.
  • Generate synthetic training data for policies that jointly reason about mobile-base positioning and arm manipulation, and feed real-world failure modes into new simulation scenarios.
  • Build simulation benchmarks that evaluate joint base-and-arm policies, including vision-language-action, imitation learning, and diffusion models.
  • Improve photorealistic rendering quality to reduce the sim-to-real gap for vision-based loco-manipulation.
  • Partner with the AI Research team on simulated data and evaluation priorities and with Data Ops on what to capture in the real world versus generate in simulation.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience simulating mobile bases, including wheeled, tracked, or holonomic platforms.
  • Prior research or engineering experience in loco-manipulation or whole-body control, coordinating mobile-base motion with arm manipulation.
  • Experience with real-to-sim-to-real pipelines, including 3D reconstruction, neural radiance fields, Gaussian splatting, or differentiable rendering.
  • Exposure to world-model or video-prediction research, including learned dynamics or latent world models.
  • GPU-scale physics simulation experience using CUDA or large-batch parallel simulation.
  • Experience simulating wheeled or mobile manipulators such as Boston Dynamics Stretch or warehouse and logistics robots.
  • Publications at CoRL, RSS, ICRA, NeurIPS, CVPR, or SIGGRAPH.
  • Experience leading or mentoring within a small research team.

About the company

Dyna Robotics designs and deploys general-purpose robots that are powered by proprietary foundation models. Their DYNA-1 model enables embodied-AI robots to operate autonomously across real-world commercial environments and continuously improve through experience. The robots work by running a single base model that generalizes to tasks in different settings—hotels, restaurants, laundromats, and gyms—allowing multi-shift, 24/7 operation with high task success. Compared with others, Dyna focuses on broad applicability and self-improvement of their embodied AI in diverse commercial contexts, backed by a strong founder track record and large financing rounds from major investors to scale research, engineering, and production-ready deployments. The company aims to expand research and development and extend production-ready deployments across more commercial environments.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • August 2026 DYNA-2 reached 87% zero-shot deployment quality at novel customer sites.
  • Dyna says fleet will reach hundreds of robots by first half 2027.
  • Hiring for safety operators across Walnut Creek, San Diego, Bellevue, and Midtown signals expansion.

What critics are saying

  • One Din Tai Fung rollout anchors revenue; a failed kitchen deployment stalls 2027 expansion.
  • On-site robot safety incidents trigger recalls, lawsuits, and landlord bans across customer properties.
  • If DYNA-2 stops outperforming teleoperation, Dyna becomes another hardware services shop.

What makes Dyna Robotics unique

  • DYNA-2's 1-million-hour human-video pretraining creates a rare scaling-law moat.
  • Din Tai Fung rollouts and hotels prove software-to-hardware transfer beyond demos.
  • Investors like NVIDIA, Amazon, Salesforce, and Samsung validate cross-industry distribution.

Dyna Robotics unveils DYNA-2 robot model trained on 1M hours of human video data

Dyna Robotics has launched DYNA-2, a robot foundation model trained on over 1 million hours of human egocentric video — equivalent to 170 years of continuous experience. The model demonstrates the first human-to-robot scaling law, proving robot performance improves predictably as more human video data is added. DYNA-2 bypasses traditional robotics data bottlenecks by training on video rather than scarce teleoperation data. In high-precision manufacturing tasks, it increased success rates from 20% to 80–90% through pre-training scale alone. The model can adapt to different robot platforms with just hours of fine-tuning. In real-world evaluations, DYNA-2 completed tasks 1.55 times more successfully than the company's previous model, achieving 87% pass rates at customer deployments. Dyna Robotics was founded by Lindon Gao, York Yang, and Jason Ma, backed by investors including CRV and First Round.
