  • A medical degree and two years of direct or intern experience are required.

  • The role involves considerable standing or walking, regular lifting of objects weighing 20 pounds or less, assisting with lifting and moving patients, and assuming occasional fatiguing positions and motions.
Responsibilities
  • Provide medical patient care by interviewing, examining, and treating clinical patients to meet their medical needs.
  • Educate patients and families on wellness, prevention, and early detection by providing materials and resources.
  • Determine required referrals based on examination findings and patient needs.
  • Determine the urgency of follow-up, referral, and consultation appointments.
  • Exercise final medical judgment in health-care matters.
  • Prescribe medical treatment and clinical drugs to patients.
  • Order studies, tests, and ancillary services.
  • Document all services in the patient medical record.
  • Regularly review long-term cases requiring ongoing medical attention.
  • Consult with the Medical Director and other staff professionals as needed regarding patient care, assessment, and education.
  • Participate in process improvement, management, continuing education, and other patient-care programs established by hospital or clinic requirements.
  • Oversee assigned mid-level medical staff and nursing clinical staff.
  • Assist in resolving complaints, requests, and inquiries from patients.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of patient information according to federal guidelines and regulations.
  • Provide customer service consistent with the organization’s mission, values, and customer-service standards.
