Requirements
  • The role requires 2-3+ years of professional software engineering experience, including production work on artificial intelligence and large language model systems.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and TypeScript, including asynchronous programming, is required.
  • Fullstack production experience with React and TypeScript on the frontend, modern backend services, REST APIs, and Postgres is required.
  • Hands-on experience with modern large language model tooling, including prompt engineering, function and tool calling, retrieval-augmented generation patterns, vector stores, and at least one major model provider such as Anthropic, OpenAI, or Google, is required.
  • Experience designing and running evaluation frameworks for large language model systems is required.
  • Comfort with cloud infrastructure, preferably Google Cloud Platform, or AWS or Azure, Docker, and continuous integration and continuous delivery is required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication is required to scope an agent with product, explain tradeoffs to an executive, and write documentation.
  • Production large language model systems experience is required, including understanding an agent or workflow, its failure modes, and the evaluations built around it.
Responsibilities
  • Own artificial intelligence agents and workflows end-to-end, from scoping the workflow with product and design through prompt and tool design, production deployment, and continuous iteration.
  • Build across the full stack, including agent orchestration backends, tool and application programming interface integrations, evaluation pipelines, observability, and product surfaces where agents appear.
  • Design and run evaluations, including golden sets, large language model-as-judge frameworks, and regression evaluations.
  • Integrate with the construction technology ecosystem, including accounting systems, project management tools, document repositories, and the company's BigQuery-backed data platform.
  • Partner with product, design, and other engineers to translate real-world workflows into reliable agent behaviors.
  • Shape the agent platform by surfacing unmet needs, prototyping new patterns, and influencing how artificial intelligence appears across the product.
  • Work in a SOC 2-compliant environment using modern artificial intelligence development workflows.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with agent orchestration frameworks such as LangGraph, CrewAI, or Claude Agent SDK and observability tooling such as Braintrust, LangSmith, Datadog, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with the Model Context Protocol and building Model Context Protocol servers or skills.
  • Experience with BigQuery, ClickHouse, or similar analytics warehouses.
  • Previous work in construction technology, financial technology, or other regulated enterprise verticals.
  • Background as a founding engineer or in an applied artificial intelligence or platform engineering role at a fast-moving startup.
  • Experience with Golang.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • March 12, 2026, Suffolk standardized Clearstory across its national portfolio.
  • May 28, 2026, Clearstory launched COR Pricing Agent and Plexxis integration beta.
  • June 23, 2026, Clearstory said only one-third of contractors use structured change-order processes.

What critics are saying

  • Procore, InEight, and CMiC already bundle change management inside broader systems.
  • If Procore copies Clearstory's COR log, Clearstory becomes a replaceable feature by 2027.
  • A weak construction slowdown would hit renewal growth and crush expansion sales in 2026.

What makes Clearstory unique

  • Clearstory owns a dedicated change-order communication layer, not a generic project-management suite.
  • Its real-time COR log and digital T&M tags replace paper tickets and email chaos.
  • Clearstory's 2023 DataStreet acquisition deepened subcontractor workflows and accelerated payment-focused adoption.
