About the job

Requirements
  • Four or more years of production software engineering experience, including APIs, services, data infrastructure, tests, continuous integration and deployment, and on-call ownership.
  • Two or more years of experience building and shipping large language model or agent systems used by real users in production.
  • Hands-on experience with LangChain, LangGraph, or equivalent agent and orchestration frameworks.
  • Ability to explain technical decisions clearly to non-technical founders and debate architecture tradeoffs with senior engineers.
  • Ability to take ownership, work independently, and identify and deliver needed work without waiting for tickets.
  • Ability to work effectively in ambiguous, rapidly changing AI product environments.
  • Ability to move at startup speed and distinguish decisions requiring extensive thought from those requiring rapid execution.
Responsibilities
  • Own the evaluation layer for agents, including harnesses, metrics, golden datasets, regression gates, and human-in-the-loop review.
  • Architect and implement agent workflows using LangChain, LangGraph, or equivalent frameworks, including state memory, routing, tool registries, and recovery paths.
  • Own systems from experimentation through production and operate them in production, including tracing, monitoring, latency, cost-per-task budgeting, and on-call support.
  • Diagnose production failures such as hallucinations, tool misuse, retrieval misses, and silent degradation, and turn each into a durable fix and test.
  • Set the technical standard for agent work by reviewing designs, defining reusable patterns, and improving engineering practices across the team.
  • Collaborate with the founding team and cross-functional partners to communicate tradeoffs, progress, and technical decisions.
  • Make pragmatic engineering decisions under ambiguity by shipping, learning, and iterating.
Desired Qualifications
  • Deep experience with retrieval-augmented generation, including hybrid and graph retrieval, chunking and embedding strategy, ranking, and grounding.
  • Experience with observability for large language model systems using Langfuse, OpenTelemetry, or equivalent tools, and with cost and latency optimization.
  • Experience with MCP, tool-calling frameworks, structured output, and constrained decoding.
  • Experience at early-stage startups or high-growth environments involving broad responsibilities.

About the company

Hilbert provides an AI-powered data platform for B2C companies that turns fragmented data from teams like retail, inventory, and e‑commerce into actionable guidance. It connects data into a single system, uses deep learning and a proprietary AI/ML stack to structure it, and offers a no-code natural language interface for asking questions. A distinctive feature is the Hilbert Label, a customer-level data bundle with predictive insights (such as churn risk and upsell potential) that updates as new data flows in. The platform identifies key business events, analyzes marketing efficiency, forecasts metrics, and suggests actions with estimated revenue impact to shorten decision cycles and drive growth for large brands, backed by experienced operators and venture funding.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Axios reported Walmart, FreshDirect, Blank Street, and Levain as customers on April 15, 2026.
  • Hilbert's April 2026 Series A raised $28 million for expansion and hiring.
  • Indeed and Ashby postings in April 2026 show active GTM and engineering hiring.

What critics are saying

  • Hilbert faces heavyweight competition from Databricks, Snowflake, and Amplitude by 2026.
  • Enterprise sales cycles and $100K-plus monthly contracts expose 2026 revenue concentration risk.
  • A single retailer data-security breach would destroy trust and freeze enterprise expansion.

What makes Hilbert unique

  • Nazli Tan and Ceyda Erten built growth systems at Getir before founding Hilbert.
  • Hilbert's April 2026 a16z-backed Series A validated its B2C analytics wedge.
  • Its Hilbert Label turns fragmented customer data into continuously updated action files.
