Requirements
  • A Doctor of Dental Surgery or Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from a Commission on Dental Accreditation-accredited dental program or an equivalent foreign degree is required.
  • A current Mississippi dental license is required, or the license must be obtained within 90 days after hire.
  • Proven experience working in the dental field is required.
  • Demonstrated skill in traditional classroom teaching and online learning environments is required.
  • Ability to interpret and use student learning outcome data to enhance teaching and learning is required.
  • Proficiency in word processing programs and internet applications is required.
  • The faculty member must remain informed about current trends and advancements in the dental field.
  • The faculty member must communicate and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
  • The faculty member must support the School of Dentistry's mission of patient care, teaching, research, and service.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver course content according to approved syllabi.
  • Teach assigned classes as scheduled and maintain excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Regularly assess student academic achievement and adjust teaching techniques based on feedback and educational best practices.
  • Participate in creating, evaluating, and improving department curriculum based on student learning outcomes and current industry trends.
  • Submit attendance, grades, and other documentation accurately and on time.
  • Attend department meetings and contribute to program goals, curriculum review, and discussions about improving teaching methods and student outcomes.
  • Stay current with dental-field trends and teaching methodologies through relevant professional development activities.
  • Participate in college and community service, including committee service, and contribute to the broader mission of the School of Dentistry.
  • Deliver patient care in the School of Dentistry's University Dentists faculty practice while maintaining high-quality treatment and patient-care standards.
  • Report to the Department Chair and communicate regularly about goals and objectives.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience providing didactic and/or clinical instruction to dental students.
  • Active involvement in professional organizations.
