Requirements
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline is required.
  • Five to seven years of relevant experience in product support, manufacturing or test engineering, systems troubleshooting, or a related technical environment is required.
  • Strong understanding of product design, system integration, manufacturing processes, and test and diagnostic methods for complex electronic systems is required.
  • Experience performing failure analysis, root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and implementing corrective solutions is required.
  • Knowledge of electrical engineering principles, circuit design, production assembly and test methods, quality practices, and IPC standards is required.
  • Ability to analyze complex technical issues, develop solutions, and provide technical guidance as a subject matter expert is required.
  • Experience supporting Department of National Defence programs, defence-related products, or military systems is required.
  • Experience with Life Cycle Material Management, including product sustainment, maintenance, repair, and supportability activities, is required.
  • Applicants must be eligible to work in Canada.
  • Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a Canadian government security clearance.
Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing by troubleshooting product issues and acting as a liaison among program teams, customers, and internal stakeholders regarding product support matters.
  • Guide Product Support Technicians, Technologists, Coordinators, and Commercial Officers to achieve quality and on-time-delivery goals.
  • Lead through influence and mentor Technicians and Technologists in managing product support problems, conducting fault isolations and analyses, and driving solutions.
  • Recommend corrective and preventive actions to program engineering teams for potential product quality issues.
  • Identify systemic gaps in processes and procedures and partner with stakeholders to design and implement resolution mechanisms.
  • Partner with coordinators to ensure the integrity of Product Support data and comprehensive documentation of repair processes.
  • Use data analytics and expert judgment to develop cost estimates and produce and present status reports, root cause analyses, tear-down and investigation reports, repair analysis reports, and other briefings to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Direct the triage workflow for incoming repair products, set prioritization, document product assessments, and facilitate stakeholder communication.
  • Serve as the primary technical liaison for customers, lead on-site troubleshooting assignments, and represent the company’s technical expertise.
  • Conduct obsolescence investigations, validate substitutions, and manage engineering change and approval processing in support of life cycle management of materiel.
  • Champion continuous improvement projects from concept through implementation in alignment with Project Support business objectives and priorities.
  • Provide expert technical feedback during product development and act as the engineering technical program representative to repair programs requiring support for electrical and mechanical components.
  • Perform additional duties delegated by the Manufacturing Engineering and Product Support Manager.
Desired Qualifications
  • Professional Engineering designation or eligibility for registration.
  • Experience with software programming, scripting, or technical tools used for troubleshooting and process improvement.
  • Experience with Lean principles, continuous improvement initiatives, and process optimization.
  • Familiarity with artificial intelligence and machine learning models and emerging technologies.
  • Experience developing technical documentation, training materials, and knowledge-transfer resources.
