What's wrong with Kraft Heinz stock?

What's wrong with Kraft Heinz stock? The company is hoping its turnaround strategy will spur growth in 2027 and beyond. By Catie Hogan - Oct 23, 2026 at 6:50AM EST Key points. * Kraft Heinz's stock price is down more than 35% over the past five years. * The stock's dividend yield is approaching 7% as the company continues to pay a quarterly dividend of $0.40 per share. * Motley Fool Issues First-Ever 9X Buy Alert" Investors in Kraft Heinz (KHC -1.16%) have been frustrated for a long time now. Unfortunately, this year isn't any different. In early October, the stock of this packaged food and beverage company was hovering above its 52-week low, and its price-to-sales ratio was near a 10-year low. There doesn't appear to be much optimism from Wall Street regarding Kraft's ability to grow in the future, either. So what exactly is wrong? First and foremost, Kraft's core business is shrinking. In the second quarter of 2026, net sales fell 1.4% year over year, adjusted operating income was down 18.4%, and Kraft recorded a $6.4 billion operating loss. While emerging markets sales rose, North America was down 2.7%. At the beginning of this year, the consumer staples giant appointed a new CEO, Steve Cahillane, who pivoted away from the company's plans to split into two businesses and instead chose to invest $600 million to revitalize its U.S. market. So far, the strategy doesn't have much to show for itself, but to be fair, it's still quite early in Cahillane's tenure and turnaround plan. KHC - Kraft Heinz. $24.80 -$0.29 (-1.16%) NYSE · As of 4:00 PM ET 10/23/26 KHC · 1Y +3.55% Key data points. Market cap $29.41B Day's range $24.56 - $25.23 52wk range $21.04 - $28.09 Volume 9.9M Avg volume 17.4M Gross margin 33.22% Dividend yield 6.45% Wall Street is divided on Kraft's comeback. The company's outlook has improved slightly, but business will still likely contract in the coming quarters. Kraft's dividend yield is quite high at 6.75%, and the payout is consistent at $0.40 per share quarterly. Ultimately, the low price doesn't warrant a buy from me quite yet. The company's turnaround strategy really needs to take hold over the coming year, and my unhealthy ketchup consumption alone isn't enough to do it. Is Kraft Heinz a smart long-term play? Kraft Heinz, T-Mobile, Otis, Hasbro and Citi named among Newsweek's America's Greenest Companies 2027.

Kraft Heinz, T-Mobile, Otis, Hasbro and Citi named among Newsweek's America's Greenest Companies 2027. New ranking recognizes 650 U.S. companies for performance in environmental sustainability. October 13, 2026 09:00 ET | Source: Newsweek NEW YORK, Oct. 13, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) - Newsweek, in partnership with Plant-A Insights Group, today announced America's Greenest Companies 2027, recognizing 650 U.S. companies for their performance in environmental sustainability. Kraft Heinz, T-Mobile, Otis, Hasbro, Citi, Bristol Myers Squibb and Applied Materials are among the companies earning the highest five-star distinction. As sustainability becomes an increasingly important indicator of corporate leadership, America's Greenest Companies 2027 provides a data-driven view of how organizations address environmental challenges and demonstrate measurable progress. Financial services, technology and pharmaceuticals were among the most recognized industries. "Companies are under increasing pressure to show real, measurable progress on environmental sustainability," said Ryan Kinney, Senior Vice President at Newsweek. "America's Greenest Companies recognizes the organizations that are backing their commitments with data and demonstrating meaningful progress across the areas that matter most." Developed by Newsweek and Plant-A Insights Group in partnership with GIST Impact, America's Greenest Companies 2027 recognizes the 650 highest-scoring U.S. companies based on publicly available sustainability data. More than 6,000 public and private companies were reviewed. To be considered, companies were required to maintain a U.S. headquarters and have publicly disclosed sustainability data available as of June 30, 2026. Companies were also screened according to European Union Benchmark exclusion criteria. Eligible companies were evaluated across more than 25 sustainability parameters spanning four key categories: greenhouse gas emissions, water usage, waste generation, and commitment and disclosure. The quantitative analysis was supplemented by media monitoring conducted using Critical Mention by Onclusive to identify companies implicated in environmental wrongdoing, greenwashing or serious ecological misconduct between August 31, 2024 and August 31, 2026. Companies identified through this process were excluded from the final ranking. Newsweek and Plant-A Insights Group conducted multiple iterations of the media monitoring process to validate exclusions and ensure the accuracy of the results. Newsweek reaches 100 million people monthly with its thought-provoking news, opinion, images, graphics, and video delivered across a dozen print and digital platforms. UPS, Pfizer, Kraft Heinz and Ford dividends at risk as payouts outstrip earnings

Four blue chip companies, UPS, Pfizer, Kraft Heinz, and Ford, may struggle to sustain their dividends, according to an analysis of their earnings, cash flow, and debt. UPS yields 7.02% and pays out about 121% of its GAAP earnings. Pfizer yields 6.10%, with a GAAP payout ratio of about 226%; its 2025 free cash flow of $9.076 billion fell short of $9.771 billion in dividends. Kraft Heinz yields 6.82%, but its trailing GAAP earnings per share are −$2.88 after $7.4 billion in impairments. Ford yields 4.98% after an $8.162 billion loss in 2025, and its debt-to-equity ratio is 4.66. All four companies say their payouts are safe, and each points to adjusted earnings guidance that covers the dividend.
