Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • At least 6 months of experience is required.
  • A current ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Level I certification is required.
  • Portable Nuclear Gauge Safety Training Certification is required.
  • Understanding of the Proctor Compaction Test and Unified Soil Classification System soil classification is required.
  • Training and demonstrated competency in One-Point Proctor testing in the field are required, with validation.
  • The employee must pass relevant tests and/or obtain valid signatures.
  • The employee must be able to create and maintain accurate, confidential test records and prepare understandable reports.
  • The employee must be skilled in using computers and common software applications and able to learn company-specific software and programs.
  • The employee must be able to drive a company vehicle and comply with company operating and safety guidelines.
  • The employee must be able to follow directions, communicate effectively, maintain working relationships, and work ethically, honestly, and safely.
  • The employee must be able to lift or carry up to 50 pounds, climb ladders and scaffolding, and maneuver physically through construction sites and excavations.
  • The employee must possess a valid driver's license from their state of residence and qualify for applicable company insurance coverage.
  • Reliable transportation to and from the branch office at all hours is required when needed.
  • The employee must be able to work night shifts, weekends, early mornings, schedule changes, and flexible hours.
Responsibilities
  • Provide testing observation on assigned field projects in accordance with applicable specifications for independent testing laboratories.
  • Prepare, collect, and test samples involving soil, concrete, grout, mortar, and asphalt.
  • Perform field observations and document construction activities on site.
  • Clearly identify, verbally communicate, and document test results and activities.
  • Review civil and structural plan specifications and identify sections applicable to the scope of work.
  • Perform tests, general construction inspections, and observations according to project requirements with some supervision.
  • Submit daily field reports documenting testing, inspections, and field observations.
  • Document and communicate nonconforming items to designated project supervision.
  • Clean, maintain, and calibrate assigned equipment according to applicable codes and standards.
  • Transport, operate, and care for a nuclear density gauge in accordance with radiation-safety guidelines.
  • Travel daily to construction sites, generally within 100 miles of the home office, and complete occasional out-of-town assignments.
