Requirements
  • A High School Diploma or General Educational Development credential is required.
  • A Certified Medical Assistant credential from the American Association of Medical Assistants is required upon hire.
  • A National Certified Medical Assistant credential from the National Center for Competency Testing is required upon hire.
  • A Registered Medical Assistant credential from American Medical Technologists is required upon hire.
  • The role requires excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • The role requires the ability to work both within a team and independently.
Responsibilities
  • Perform assigned direct and indirect patient-care tasks in the ambulatory setting under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Licensed Independent Practitioner.
  • Participate as a member of the healthcare team and accept appropriate delegation in meeting patient and family needs.
  • Perform assigned tasks in accordance with the patient care plan, organizational policies and procedures, and principles of patient-centered care.
  • Carry out designated activities permitted for unlicensed healthcare personnel under New York State law.
  • Document information in patient records accurately and promptly.
  • Obtain prior authorizations from insurance companies.
  • Generate medical renewals under the supervision of a licensed healthcare provider.
  • Assist Licensed Practical Nurses with obtaining information for pump, sensor, and meter approvals.
  • Assist with clinical coverage as needed.
  • Adhere to Albany Medical Center regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Perform other responsibilities assigned by the manager.
Desired Qualifications
  • One to three years of medical office experience.
