Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited high school or GED program.
  • Two years of formal training and three years of work-related experience; one year of work-related experience may substitute for one year of formal training, or the requirements may be combined.
  • Must possess a valid Texas driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Must pass a security clearance check.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and lift more than 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Must be able to withstand prolonged sitting, standing, bending, squatting, twisting, kneeling, stretching, lifting, and climbing ladders.
  • Must be able to work in varying conditions, surroundings, and weather conditions.
  • Must be able to adapt to changes in shift schedules and work locations.
Responsibilities
  • Instruct and assist staff with the effective and high-quality installation and repair of fuse boxes, switch panels, electrical controls, air-conditioning and refrigeration systems, emergency diesel generators, computer terminals, and phone cables.
  • Review wiring diagrams and plans to determine installation methods, and direct contracted electrical installations and repairs.
  • Inspect electrical installations and repairs to ensure high-quality work and craftsmanship on each project.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance inspections of equipment, complete repairs, and recommend corrective action.
  • Maintain an electronic database, such as Microsoft Excel or facility-related software, by recording repairs and installations and their outcomes or results.
  • Ensure adequate supplies and equipment are ordered and maintained.
  • Train, instruct, and assist electricians and other personnel in proper methods and safety protocols, and maintain time and attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
