Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers connects buyers and sellers of heavy machinery, trucks, and other assets through auctions and asset-management services. Its core products are live and online auctions plus disposition and asset-management solutions that help sellers convert surplus equipment into cash and help buyers find and bid on used equipment. The auction process works by listing assets for sale in catalogs and conducting bidding—historically unreserved auctions and now increasingly online platforms—so buyers can bid from anywhere and sellers can reach a global audience. The company differentiates itself with a long history of transparency and integrity, a global footprint across more than 20 countries, and a shift toward online auctions that expands access and efficiency for both sides of the market. The goal is to provide a trusted, scalable marketplace that maximizes recovery for asset owners while delivering broad, convenient access to buyers worldwide.

Scottish yard aids auctioneers expansion.

Scottish yard aids auctioneers expansion. Ritchie Bros. has strengthened its presence in the UK with the opening of its first operational yard in Scotland, providing buyers and sellers of used machinery with a dedicated facility in the country's central belt. Located at Harthill, just off Junction 5 of the M8 motorway between Glasgow and Edinburgh, the new site is designed to improve access for customers across Scotland while reducing transport distances and simplifying equipment logistics. The facility operates 24 hours a day for deliveries, allowing customers and hauliers to drop off and collect machinery outside traditional opening hours. The company says the flexible access will help minimise downtime and make it easier to move equipment around busy work schedules. The Scottish yard complements Ritchie Bros.' existing UK operations at Maltby, near Rotherham, together with its Mullingar facility in Ireland, which opened in 2025. The three locations provide broader coverage across the UK and Ireland while supporting equipment sales through the company's online auctions and other sales channels. Chris Thomson, Scotland Territory Manager at Ritchie Bros., said the investment reflects the company's commitment to the Scottish market. "Having an operational yard in Harthill means we can offer the same market-leading services already available elsewhere in the UK while making it easier and quicker for customers in Scotland to sell machinery and equipment," he said. "The new location allows Scottish sellers to access our global network of buyers while benefiting from a much more convenient local facility." As well as reducing transport costs and journey times, the site brings inspection, marketing and sales support closer to customers who previously had to travel further afield to access Ritchie Bros.' services. The opening forms part of the company's wider strategy to expand its regional footprint and meet growing demand for used equipment and asset management services across the UK and Ireland. The new yard is located at 59 West Benhar Road, Harthill, Shotts ML7 5TG.

RB Global Q1 adjusted EBITDA up 11% on $4.3B GTV, BigIron deal to close in Q2

RB Global reported 13% gross transaction value growth to $4.3 billion and 11% adjusted EBITDA growth in its first quarter of 2026. The company received antitrust approval for its BigIron acquisition, which is now expected to close in the second quarter. The commercial construction and transportation segment led growth, with GTV up 27% year-over-year, or approximately 16% excluding acquisitions. Chief Executive Officer Jim Kessler cited early signs of improving customer confidence, supported by stabilising used equipment values and infrastructure activity. In automotive, GTV increased 7%, driven by a 6% rise in average selling prices and 1% unit volume growth. Chief Financial Officer Eric Guerin said the company's updated 2026 guidance excludes any impact from the pending BigIron transaction.

Ritchie Bros. Showcases Nevada during Gov. Joe Lombardo visit. Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers (America) Inc., an RB Global Inc. company and the world's largest industrial auctioneer offering live auction events with online bidding, welcomed Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo to the company's booth at ConExpo-Con/Agg in Las Vegas, highlighting the company's presence in the state. Through its portfolio of marketplaces, including Ritchie Bros., GovPlanet and IAA, RB Global maintains a growing operational footprint across Nevada, with more than 75 full-time employees and a range of contractors and seasonal team members. "Nevada plays an important role in connecting equipment, vehicles and other commercial assets to buyers around the world," said Jim Kessler. "With multiple facilities and teams across the state, we're proud to support local jobs and the local community while helping businesses and government agencies buy and sell critical assets more efficiently." Ritchie Bros. has operated its Las Vegas auction yard since 2012. The approximately 100-acre facility includes a 33,000-sq.-ft. main building and a refurbishment center and supports both in-person and online auctions for heavy equipment, trucks and other commercial assets. GovPlanet, a leading online marketplace for surplus government and military assets, has operated a logistics and processing center in North Las Vegas since 2018. GovPlanet works with local, state and federal agencies, including the United States Department of Defense, to remarket surplus rolling stock and other assets. The site receives freight from Defense Logistics Agency locations, including Nellis Air Force Base in southern Nevada. IAA operates multiple facilities in Nevada, with the IAA Las Vegas branch that covers approximately 40 acres, including the branch office and title service center. The IAA Las Vegas branch also processes vehicles remarketed on behalf of the U.S. General Services. Together, these operations connect assets across Nevada with buyers throughout North America and worldwide, reinforcing RB Global's role in supporting the state's logistics and equipment economy.
