About the job
- Basic understanding of UNIX fundamentals, standard command knowledge, programming languages, and basic system administration tools and processes.
- Basic understanding of relational databases, including Access, Oracle, and SQL Server, and basic SQL syntax for inserts, updates, deletes, and joins.
- Experience performing maintenance and administrative tasks within an application.
- Microsoft Windows skills and troubleshooting experience.
- Technical skills or knowledge in position-related areas, with the ability to keep current with relevant knowledge and trends.
- Basic networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, peer-to-peer networking, RPC, shares, FTP, and packet analysis.
- Understanding of security fundamentals and the ability to enforce standards within each application.
- Understanding and application of thorough testing procedures and quality control processes.
- Knowledge of web server technology, including IIS, WebSphere, Apache, and Tomcat.
- Ability to create and document instructions that others can follow.
- Programming and scripting knowledge in multiple languages, including HTML, JavaScript, Visual Basic, VBScript/VBA, ASP, Perl, KSH, WinBatch, SQL, and Peregrine custom languages.
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate interpersonal and team skills.
- Ability to provide user training and communicate technical and non-technical information to technical support groups, customer support centers, end users, senior management, and vendors.
- Ability to collaborate with peers across the organization.
- Ability to provide consultation to stakeholders affected by the application.
- Ability to manage work queues, track user issues and requests, and complete work queue items according to procedures.

- Manage assigned software products and associated hardware and operating systems relevant to the Enterprise Managed File Transfer function.
- Monitor application performance and take action on changes.
- Respond to application outages and perform routine maintenance on assigned applications.
- Perform routine changes according to change management procedures.
- Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support for projects and implemented applications.
- Identify, isolate, and troubleshoot issues and drive development of solutions.
- Assist with capacity planning to ensure the application meets current and projected capacities.
- Maintain version, patch, and security levels in accordance with the company's strategic direction.
- Bachelor's degree.
- Two years of experience as an application administrator.
- Two years of experience building, deploying, and maintaining highly available solutions.
- Two years of experience building reusable services.
- Two years of experience with GlobalSCAPE EFT Enterprise.
- Two years of experience with file transfer protocols, including FTP, SFTP/SCP, HTTP, Connect:Direct, and SMTP.
- Two years of experience with PGP encryption and decryption.
- Two years of experience with scripting and development skills, including BPML, XML/XPath, HTML, CSS, and shell scripts.
- Two years of experience with SQL and databases, including Oracle, Microsoft SQL, and MySQL.
