We are seeking a detail-oriented and adaptable Accountant to join our team. This role will assist with the daily cash application process, including managing some manual processes, while contributing to a wide range of accounting functions. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, results-driven environment, demonstrates flexibility, and has a knack for process improvement, constantly seeking ways to streamline workflows and enhance efficiency.
What you will do...
Oversee and maintain the daily cash application process, including manual elements, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Assist with monthly bank reconciliation and related reporting.
Partner with internal teams to address client payment receipts and respond promptly to requests, building and maintaining strong working relationships.
Communicate daily payment receipt details to the third-party claims processor.
Provide weekly cash application status updates to key stakeholders.
Perform selected month-end close activities, including preparing journal entries and reconciling various balance sheet and income statement accounts.
Support audit and SOX compliance requirements.
Actively develop and maintain knowledge of internal policies and procedures.
Identify opportunities to automate and streamline processes, helping to minimize manual effort and improve efficiency.
Adapt to and manage manual workflows as needed while proposing scalable improvements.
Contribute to special projects and additional tasks as assigned.
About you...
1-3 years of corporate accounting experience.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Hands-on experience with Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable processes.
Exposure to annual external audits.
Experience working in a large healthcare system or similar organization is preferred.
Proficiency in Excel, with a strong understanding of spreadsheets and data manipulation.
Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal).
Flexible and comfortable working with manual processes while striving for improvements.
Strong ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
Detail-oriented, with excellent documentation and organizational skills.
A process improvement mindset, with a proactive approach to identifying inefficiencies and implementing solutions.
Ability to multitask, prioritize effectively, and adapt to a dynamic work environment.
Capable of working both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

In compliance with New York City’s Wage Transparency Law, the annual salary [wage] range for NYC-based applicants is: $65,000 - $75,000. There are a variety of factors that go into determining a salary range, including but not limited to external market benchmark data, geographic location, and years of experience sought/required. Progyny offers a total compensation package comprised of base salary, cash bonus, and equity.
