About the job
- A minimum of 2 years of previous experience working with children, such as academic or athletic tutoring, camp counseling, or youth volunteering.
- A minimum of 1–5 years of yoga teaching or group fitness instructor experience is required.
- Must possess a calm yet engaging energy, a positive approach, and a genuine desire to impact young children’s lives through mindfulness and movement.
- Must be knowledgeable about yoga practice, breathing techniques, and relaxation methods.
- Must demonstrate communication skills with children and their parents, including clear, concise, and grammatically correct written and oral language in professional interactions with students, families, peers, the leadership team, and the larger community.
- A fingerprint-based criminal background check (Live Scan), child abuse clearance, mandated reporter training, and current CPR/First Aid certification are required.
- Must be willing to travel between schools and program sites.
- Must be able to respond to emergency situations that may require running and climbing stairs, and be in good physical condition to perform all position responsibilities, including demonstrating yoga poses and safe movement techniques.
- Supervise students and lead age-appropriate yoga instruction while providing a safe and calming environment and serving as a positive role model.
- Create and implement daily yoga sessions tailored to students ages 4 to 18 with varying ability levels.
- Teach fundamental yoga postures, breathing techniques, and mindfulness practices to promote physical, emotional, and mental well-being.
- Supervise groups of students with attention to behavior and group management, health and safety, security, and personal and skill development.
- Ensure the safety of students and team members.
- Organize and prepare daily plans in a fun, creative, and engaging manner.
- Use classroom management skills to lead activities and create an inclusive and encouraging environment.
- Work effectively with fellow Activity Specialists and collaborate on daily responsibilities.
- Follow the Impact Kids Code of Conduct, maintain the Impact Kids look, exhibit Impact Kids Core Values, and adhere to company policies.
- A bachelor's degree is preferred but not required.
- Certified Yoga Instructor certification is preferred.
