AI for shift-based businesses

AI for shift-based businesses. Deputy, the global people platform for shift work, has announced an AI solution designed to help organisations operate smarter, faster, and more strategically. Built on nearly two decades of workforce data, Deputy AI is said to go beyond automating routine management tasks, by transforming frontline operations into an agentic intelligence system that continuously learns, anticipates change, and delivers actionable insights and actions to drive performance, profitability, and growth. Instead of simply saving time, Deputy AI enables managers to run smarter operations. Managers can simply ask, "We have a large group booking for 20 people tomorrow night, what schedule changes should I make to increase revenue?" or "Construction will cut weekend traffic - forecast what that will look like for the shop and rework the schedule to save on labour costs" and get an instant, actionable answer. "Deputy AI represents the next evolution of our platform - a shift from smart scheduling to agentic workforce orchestration," said Silvija Martincevic, CEO of Deputy. "In past technology revolutions, from mobile to cloud, shift workers and small businesses were often left behind. We're changing that. By combining nearly two decades of insight from the frontline, with the power of AI, we're building tools that make managing teams simpler, smarter, and more human. The result is smarter decisions, stronger margins, and more sustainable growth for shift-based businesses." Across industries like retail, hospitality and healthcare, shift-based operations face complex variables like fluctuating demand, labour compliance, and staffing volatility that make intelligent workforce management a strategic advantage. Deputy AI addresses these challenges by connecting scheduling, labour forecasting, and real-time performance insights into a single adaptive layer that helps leaders make confident, data-driven decisions across locations and teams. Deputy AI is part of the company's broader AI-powered product suite, which includes, among other tools, AI Labour Force Optimisation and AI Hiring Assistant. Deputy AI is currently in Beta, globally. Managers and business owners can register for early access here.
