Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, data science, machine learning, or a related discipline; experience is the most relevant factor.
  • 6+ years of experience with most of the following: Angular, React, NodeJS, Python, C#, .NET, Java, SQL/NoSQL, PyTorch, TensorFlow, LangChain, LangGraph, and unit testing frameworks.
  • 3+ years of experience building AI/ML applications, including hands-on generative AI experience with large language model integration using OpenAI, Anthropic, or open-source models; retrieval-augmented generation pipelines; prompt engineering; and vector databases.
  • 3+ years of experience with cloud-native engineering using function as a service, platform as a service, or microservices on Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform, including AI/ML services such as Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, or Vertex AI.
  • 1+ years of experience establishing engineering standards and actively leading, mentoring, and guiding team members in adopting and continuously improving those standards.
  • Prior software engineering experience with Business Context Diagrams, sequence/activity/state/entity relationship/data flow diagrams, object-oriented programming, object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms, code instrumentation, and AI-augmented specification-driven development.
  • Prior experience using XP, Lean, DevSecOps, Site Reliability Engineering, ADO, GitHub, SonarQube, MLflow, and agentic AI frameworks such as LangFuse, LangSmith, or equivalent multi-agent orchestration tools.
  • Candidates must be located within a commutable distance of one of the select locations available for the role.
  • Ability to work in the local office at least three days per week.
  • Limited immigration sponsorship may be available.
Responsibilities
  • Develop engineering solutions that solve complex customer and business problems with high-quality, lean designs and implementations.
  • Serve as the technical advocate for products, ensuring code integrity, feasibility, and alignment with business and customer goals.
  • Lead requirements analysis, low-level architecture and component design, development, testing, integrations, and support.
  • Maintain accountability for the integrity of the architecture and technical stack against enterprise standards and strategy.
  • Manage dependencies, code design, implementation, quality, data, ongoing maintenance, and operations.
  • Create technical specifications and write high-quality, supportable, scalable code.
  • Review other engineers' code and mentor them to ensure quality key performance indicators are met or exceeded.
  • Develop lean engineering solutions through rapid, inexpensive experimentation to solve customer needs.
  • Engage with customers and product teams before, during, and after delivery to ensure the right solution is delivered at the right time.
  • Deliver lean, supportable, and maintainable solutions through incremental and iterative development.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including product management, experience, and delivery.
  • Integrate diverse perspectives to balance feasibility, viability, usability, and value.
  • Use AI and agentic software development lifecycle techniques to support daily product deployments with full automation from discovery through production and operations, including quality checks throughout the lifecycle.
  • Apply full-lifecycle product development practices with continuous improvement and learning.
  • Acquire domain-specific knowledge and translate business and user needs, architectures, and user experience/user interface designs into technical specifications and code.
  • Drive quality and technical-debt payoff while collaborating with teammates and product engineering teams.
  • Articulate complex technical concepts clearly, influence teammates and product teams through evidence-based trade-offs, and align technical solutions with business objectives.
  • Build constructive relationships with product engineering teams and customers, align diverse perspectives, and drive consensus toward feasible solutions.

AI forces companies to rethink hiring practices as job applications surge and entry-level pipelines shrink

Business Insider convened 15 HR and C-suite leaders in Davos to discuss how AI is reshaping hiring and talent pipelines. The roundtable, presented by Indeed, revealed growing concerns about entry-level positions and skills assessment. Deloitte's Elizabeth Faber emphasised maintaining a "human-led, technology-powered" approach whilst carefully navigating reduced junior hiring. TCW's Melissa Stolfi noted her firm has downsized its analyst class but maintains a pyramid structure to preserve apprenticeship culture and future leadership pipelines. Indeed's chief economist Svenja Gudell warned that whilst tech employers now demand five-plus years' experience, this creates future talent shortages if junior hiring continues declining. Salesforce's Nathalie Scardino said her company receives two million applications annually and has shifted focus from years of experience to learning aptitude. Manpower Group's Becky Frankiewicz noted AI can process candidates faster whilst reducing bias, potentially unlocking opportunities beyond traditional qualifications.

Deloitte to hire 50,000 employees in India, eyes Mangaluru expansion

Deloitte plans to hire 50,000 employees in India and is evaluating Mangaluru, Karnataka, as a potential new location, according to South Asia CEO Romal Shetty. The company currently employs 140,000 people in India, representing one in four Deloitte employees globally. Shetty said India hosts 50% of all global capability centres worldwide, with significant growth potential in Tier II and Tier III cities. He proposed creating digital economic zones integrating GCCs, GPU-based data centres, startups and academic institutions to accelerate expansion. The CEO called for streamlining GCC setup processes from six months to two weeks, whilst acknowledging infrastructure constraints around energy and water for data centres. Shetty noted Mangaluru offers advantages including talent availability and real estate, adding the company's presence there is a matter of timing.
