Requirements

  • A diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
  • Strong knowledge of Revit is essential.
  • Core knowledge of MEP services, with specialization in at least one service, is required.
  • Knowledge of 3D modeling tools such as Revit and Navisworks is desirable.
  • Knowledge of 3D modeling of electrical services is required.
  • Knowledge of 3D modeling of mechanical and plumbing services is an additional qualification.
  • Experience preparing general arrangement drawings and drawings at the concept, schematic, detailed design, and GFC stages is required.
  • Robust knowledge of building services design and experience in full services coordination are required.
  • Knowledge of BIM/CAD standards and engineering terminology is required.
  • Experience on international projects is required.
  • A self-motivated approach, ability to work independently with minimum supervision, and ability to work as part of a team are required.
  • Ability to adapt to frequently changing deadlines and meet them is required.
  • Commitment to work and personal development, with willingness to broaden experience and knowledge and develop leadership skills, is required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications is required.
  • Good written and spoken English is required.
  • A minimum of 10 to 15 years of professional experience is required, ideally on major Middle East and UK projects.
  • A proven track record in building services design across sectors including high-rise, commercial, residential, retail, healthcare, industrial, and refurbishment projects is required.
  • A proven record as a BIM lead on several projects, having led a medium-to-large team, is required.
  • Experience presenting to clients and architects is required.
  • Experience attending demanding client meetings is required.
  • Experience preparing project proposals for agreement is required.
  • Experience arranging project resources is required.
  • Experience planning and executing projects is required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of BIM processes and standards within the design team and across project stakeholders.
  • Facilitate collaboration among architects, engineers, contractors, and other project team members using BIM, ensuring seamless information exchange.
  • Oversee development of detailed 3D models using BIM software, ensuring they accurately represent design intent and comply with industry standards.
  • Manage and organize data associated with BIM models, ensuring it is accurate, up to date, and accessible to relevant parties.
  • Use clash detection tools within BIM software to identify and resolve design conflicts before construction, reducing rework and cost overruns.
  • Generate construction documentation directly from BIM models, ensuring consistency and accuracy in drawings and specifications.
  • Implement quality-control processes to review BIM models for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Provide training and support to team members on BIM tools and processes.
  • Review and negotiate the BIM Execution Plan with lead architects and clients, and implement it to suit MEP services.
  • Provide guidance and knowledge to junior team members and support another technician's competence development.
  • Coordinate with project managers and/or engineers on drafting work for each project.
  • Ensure technical correctness and timely delivery of drawings and documents for assigned projects.
  • Maintain current knowledge of operational requirements, technological advancements, regulations, guidelines, and statutory compliance in the industry.
  • Plan and optimize resources, focusing on waste reduction, productivity, and profitability, and use sound decision-making in a self-directed environment.
  • Apply best practices and work effectively under pressure with strict deadlines and multiple deliverables.
  • Use Revit MEP, AutoCAD MEP, Navisworks, AutoCAD, BIM/CAD standards, ASHRAE, ISHRAE, and ACAD versions 2004–2012 and Revit MEP versions 2009–2023 for 3D and 4D drawings.
  • Perform BIM modeling, coordination, and BOQ preparation.
  • Assist the project team in developing and implementing drafting and modeling standards.
  • Assist with distributing work within the BIM team.
  • Assist in improving BIM team efficiency and productivity.
  • Communicate training and development needs to the supervisor.
  • Follow company policies and procedures and maintain work discipline and ethics.
