Avail Health appoints former Aetna Medicare Chief Medical Officer Dr. Ali Khan to Board of Directors.

Avail Health appoints former Aetna Medicare Chief Medical Officer Dr. Ali Khan to Board of Directors. National value-based care leader joins technology-enabled healthcare company as it prepares to triple its lives served and launch an equity financing round. DANVILLE, CA, UNITED STATES, October 19, 2026 / EINPresswire.com / - Avail Health, Inc., a technology-enabled healthcare services and population health management company, today announced the appointment of Ali Khan, M.D., M.P.P., FACP, former Chief Medical Officer for Medicare at Aetna, a CVS Health company, to its Board of Directors. Dr. Khan brings extensive experience in Medicare Advantage, value-based care, clinical innovation, and population health strategy. In addition to his most recent role at Aetna, he previously served as Chief Medical Officer for Value-Based Care Strategy at Oak Street Health and held senior clinical leadership positions at CareMore Health and Iora Health. Across these organizations, he helped develop and scale innovative care delivery models for medically complex and high-risk populations. Founded in 2024, Avail has established operations across five states - California, Maryland, West Virginia, Ohio, and Indiana - serving approximately 5,000 lives through partnerships with health plans, health systems, and provider organizations. The company anticipates expanding to approximately 15,000 lives in 2027, with plans to enter Pennsylvania, Virginia, Kentucky, and additional markets. Avail has achieved its current scale without institutional venture capital funding, building its clinical infrastructure, proprietary technology platform, and commercial partnerships through a capital-efficient approach to growth. Dr. Khan's appointment builds on longstanding professional relationships with Avail's leadership team. During his tenure at CareMore Health, he worked closely with Avail founder and CEO Joseph Harrison, MSN, ARNP, and VP of Care Delivery Katie Korte, AGNP. His relationship with Avail's VP of Operations, Jordan Coleman, extends back to Iora Health. These relationships give Dr. Khan firsthand knowledge of the team's clinical capabilities, operational discipline, and history of implementing technology- and data-enabled multidisciplinary care models to improve outcomes and manage financial risk. "Ali's decision to join our Board is especially meaningful because he knows our team, our capabilities, and our track record," said Joseph Harrison, Founder and CEO of Avail Health. "We've worked together at the forefront of value-based care, designing and operating multidisciplinary clinical teams to manage some of the most complex patient populations. Ali brings a rare combination of payer leadership, clinical experience, and firsthand understanding of what it takes to make innovative care models work at scale. His perspective will be invaluable as we expand our partnerships and enter our next phase of growth." Avail's proprietary Nexus platform integrates clinical care delivery, population health analytics, and operational management. Designed for health plans, accountable care organizations, and other risk-bearing entities, Nexus brings together clinical and claims data to identify high-risk populations, coordinate care teams, track utilization and quality performance, and deliver actionable population health reporting. Combined with Avail's multidisciplinary clinical teams, the platform supports medical management, behavioral health, care transitions, chronic care management, risk adjustment, model of care compliance, and quality improvement services. "I've known Joe, Katie, and Jordan for years and have seen firsthand their ability to build and operate innovative care delivery models that produce meaningful results," said Dr. Khan. "What they've created at Avail is particularly compelling because they've translated that experience into a scalable technology and analytics platform that addresses real challenges for payers and risk-bearing organizations. The market is increasingly demanding solutions that combine clinical excellence, operational efficiency, and financial accountability, and I believe Avail is exceptionally well positioned to meet that demand. I'm excited to help the company engage other actors in the health care community who recognize this opportunity and support its next stage of growth." Avail is launching its first priced equity financing round to support the expansion of its technology platform, clinical operations, and national partnerships. Dr. Khan will provide strategic guidance on growth partnerships, clinical innovation, and growth, while helping Avail build strategic relationships across the healthcare industry.
