Requirements
  • Consecutive employment in a position with comparable responsibilities within the past five years.
  • Ability to use a computer to communicate via email.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and related tools and technology.
  • Requisite work experience and technical skills to perform Lead Lean Process Improvement Professional responsibilities in the energy industry, including oil and gas, power and utilities, or nuclear energy.
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
  • At least eight years of related experience in process improvement or project management.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Lean experience with complex manufacturing processes and/or high-hazard operations.
  • United States citizenship is required.
  • Eligibility for Facility Access Authorization, also referred to as Employment Authorization, by the United States Government's designated Security Office.
  • Ability to complete a Financial Disclosure Statement if required.
  • Ability to submit to and qualify for varying levels of background investigation, up to a Top Secret or Department of Energy Q clearance.
Responsibilities
  • Manage multiple cross-functional Mission Excellence initiatives across the Savannah River Remediation business unit.
  • Provide subject matter expertise for continuous process improvement activities, including Lean Management and Six Sigma.
  • Implement process-improvement initiatives across Savannah River Remediation.
  • Analyze and measure the effectiveness of existing business processes and develop sustainable, repeatable, and quantifiable process improvements.
  • Educate stakeholders on and promote Lean and Six Sigma methodologies while following applicable guidelines.
  • Establish and/or follow a data-driven, experience-oriented graded approach for solving business problems.
  • Collect and critically analyze data and information using statistical and non-statistical methods.
  • Develop and recommend business practices and procedures focused on enhanced safety, increased productivity, and reduced cost.
  • Participate in and coordinate the development of event charters and event schedules, working with departmental management to secure appropriate participation and support.
  • Follow up on events to monitor planned improvement implementation, ensure timely action and management support, and achieve expected benefits.
  • Use measurement, analysis, and evaluation methods to identify and document process improvements.
  • Develop reports on Continuous Improvement activities, including accomplishments, participation, projected activities, and anticipated needs.
  • Research internal and external best practices to establish benchmark data and incorporate appropriate practices.
  • Use change-control procedures for seamless integration.
  • Assess in-process initiatives periodically to mitigate risks of failure and take corrective action when required.
  • Cultivate working relationships across the organization and interface with team members, senior managers, the Department of Energy, and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in and facilitate complex process-improvement discussions.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations for assigned initiatives.
  • Mentor junior colleagues and project employees in Lean tools and techniques.
  • Collaborate with process-improvement colleagues on Lean and Six Sigma methodologies, tools, and lessons learned.
  • Contribute to creating and revising process methodologies, protocols, communication strategies, plans, document-management materials, and templates.
  • Create and edit plans, policies, practices, information, data, and documentation for assigned initiatives.
  • Provide leadership for less experienced analysts.
