Requirements
  • Be a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with experience in cardiology; electrophysiology experience is preferred but not required.
  • Hold Basic Life Support certification.
  • Hold Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification for adult inpatient positions.
  • Start South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control and Drug Enforcement Administration license applications before the first day.
  • Maintain licenses, certifications, continuing nursing education, continuing medical education, and other credentials required by applicable policies and state law.
Responsibilities
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with cardiac arrhythmias and other electrophysiologic disorders in ambulatory and inpatient settings.
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments, obtain medical histories, and develop evidence-based treatment plans.
  • Conduct new patient consultations and follow-up visits for electrophysiology patients.
  • Manage patients with atrial fibrillation, supraventricular tachycardia, ventricular arrhythmias, syncope, and other cardiac rhythm disorders.
  • Provide pre-procedure evaluations and post-procedure management for electrophysiology studies, catheter ablations, pacemaker implantations, implantable cardioverter-defibrillator implantations, and other electrophysiology procedures.
  • Interpret and manage ambulatory cardiac monitoring data, including Holter monitors, event monitors, and mobile cardiac telemetry.
  • Participate in the management and follow-up of pacemakers, implantable cardioverter-defibrillators, and cardiac resynchronization therapy devices.
  • Round on hospitalized electrophysiology patients and collaborate with consulting services to coordinate patient care.
  • Prescribe medications and adjust treatment plans in accordance with clinical guidelines and scope of practice.
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, procedures, and lifestyle modifications.
  • Collaborate with electrophysiologists and cardiovascular team members to provide high-quality, patient-centered care.
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation and billing within the electronic medical record.
  • Participate in professional organizations and continuing education to support professional practice.
