Requirements
  • Experience with industrial machinery installation, repair, and maintenance of various machines and equipment.
  • Experience with diesel generators and gas engines.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematic drawings, engineering specifications, and technical manuals.
  • Experience using industrial hand tools and power tools.
  • All Journeyman Precision Millwright hand tools.
  • A minimum of 4–5 years of industrial construction or maintenance experience.
  • Reliable transportation and availability to work 7 days as needed.
  • Computer skills.
  • Knowledge of hand tools, power tools, layout tools, lasers, ultrasonic measuring and alignment tools, plumb bobs, cutting torches, welding machines, hydraulic torch wrenches, hydraulic stud tensioners, soldering guns, lathes, and grinding machines.
  • Knowledge of industrial machinery and equipment.
  • Understanding of load properties of cables, ropes, hoists, and chains.
  • Ability to use certified hand signals.
  • Knowledge of math concepts, geometry, and layout.
  • Ability to provide detailed instructions and lead others.
  • Good reading comprehension.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to communicate with coworkers and supervisors.
  • Ability to comply with company safety rules and regulations.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, sit, lift, and use arms and hands for work activities.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work at heights and climb ladders and stairways, including use of required fall protection.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions while wearing required personal protective equipment.
Responsibilities
  • Manage multiple crews installing, assembling, dismantling, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing machinery for an industrial new-construction plant.
  • Supervise and coordinate Foremen and craft-worker activities to ensure work is completed safely, correctly, and on time.
  • Apply technical installation requirements, drawings, specifications, procedures, and codes to supervised work.
  • Work with high-complexity precision machines, including ball mills, ID fans, lube coil skids, turbines, conveyors, generators, hydraulic systems, pumps, gears, bearings, and compressors.
  • Plan, inspect, verify, and document the scope of work.
  • Use precision leveling and alignment tools to measure angles, material thickness, and small distances.
  • Fit bearings, align gears and wheels, attach motors, and connect belts according to manufacturer blueprints and drawings.
  • Dismantle machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools.
  • Assemble and install shafting, conveyors, and tram rails.
  • Assemble, bolt, weld, rivet, and fasten machinery to foundations or other structures using hand and power tools.
  • Operate engine lathes, grinders, and files.
  • Construct foundations for machinery when required.
  • Fabricate and install parts, equipment, and machinery by measuring, cutting, drilling, and welding.
  • Turn machine parts to dimensional specifications.
  • Unload, inspect, move, and position equipment using cranes, hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
  • Use rigging and hoisting devices, including chokers, chain falls, and come-alongs, to move equipment and materials into position.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance, including lubrication and repair of worn parts.
  • Follow supervisor direction and perform other assigned duties.
  • Adhere to required personal protective equipment and fall-protection procedures.
Desired Qualifications

  • Formal education, degree, or certificate in construction, a technical field, or a trade school program, such as NCCER certification.
  • Basic computer proficiency.

Zachry Group awarded Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract for NiSource's Combined Cycle Generation Project. SAN ANTONIO-(BUSINESS WIRE)-Zachry Group (Zachry) has been awarded the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract for NiSource Inc.'s Combined Cycle Generation Project, a major infrastructure project located near Wheatfield, Indiana. The facility will support NiSource's delivery of electricity to a third-party customer and includes two nominal 1,300-megawatt gas-fired combined cycle units in a 2 x 2 x 1 configuration. A subsidiary of NiSource Inc. will own and operate the facility. The EPC contract will be executed by a joint venture between Zachry Group and Quanta Services, Inc. (Quanta). Zachry will lead engineering, procurement, project management, construction planning, and commissioning, drawing on its five decades of experience designing and building over 100 gas-fired facilities totaling more than 60,000 megawatts. Quanta will contribute field-level leadership and craft workforce management through its operating companies. This collaborative approach is designed to enhance execution certainty, optimize labor resources, and deliver cost-effective, high-quality infrastructure.
