  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering discipline, chemistry, physics, or health physics; a master's degree can substitute for five years of relevant commercial or government experience.
  • For education, a Master’s degree can substitute for five years of relevant experience.
  • Applicant must possess at least a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in engineering, chemistry, physics, or health physics.
  • At least 15 years of relevant DOE nuclear facility, navy nuclear or commercial nuclear experience, which includes at least 10 years of experience applying nuclear safety analysis principles to nuclear facilities and at least 5 years of experience in conducting appraisals.
  • Applicant must demonstrate expert knowledge in the application of management assessments, independent assessments, performance metrics, and operating experience to nuclear facilities across lifecycle stages.
  • Applicant must demonstrate expert knowledge of nuclear facility engineered safety systems, including Agency design requirements, systems engineering, design code of record, documented safety analysis, safety in design processes, hazards analysis, accident analysis, safety system engineering, technical safety requirements development, risk management, and related areas.
  • Applicant must have working knowledge of Agency’s nuclear safety basis requirements and practical application of 10 CFR part 830 and part 830 safe harbor methodologies, DOE-STD-1189, DOE-STD-1186, DOE-STD-1104, and Agency-STD-1027.
  • Applicant must have excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • All ProSidian staff must be determined eligible for a “Facility Access Authorization” by the US Government security office.
Responsibilities
  • Observe and report on the performance of Federal and contractor organizations’ implementation of security and safety policies and programs.
  • Apply enforcement actions to contractor organizations for poor performance in adhering to legally enforceable security and safety requirements.
  • Develop and deliver security and safety training programs that reflect best practices and lessons learned from EA independent assessments to enhance workforce performance.
  • Provide technical and administrative support for enforcement and training programs in safeguards and security; cyber security; emergency management; and environment, safety, and health; as well as general and cross-cutting support.
  • Serve as a senior authorization basis technical advisor and expert in nuclear facility hazard control systems at Agency facilities.
  • Evaluate a wide range of Agency nuclear facilities and the application of safety system requirements, administrative controls, and plans, procedures to evaluate compliance with regulations, Agency orders, codes of record and national consensus standards for the facility documented safety basis.
  • Develop safety design strategy; conceptual safety design reports; Preliminary safety analysis reports; safety evaluation reports; and related safety documentation such as DSAs and TSRs.
  • Prepare and review design and evaluation of nuclear facility engineered safety systems (primary confinement, ventilation, fire protection, emergency power, and associated instrument and control equipment).
  • Develop reports and presentations for senior management; communicate effectively to stakeholders; meet deadlines and milestones.
  • Work on CLIN 1000: Management And Technical Crosscutting Activities (Time And Materials) for Activities Related To General And Cross-Cutting Support.
