Requirements
  • Certification or eligibility for certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Sonography, or Cardiovascular Credentialing International.
  • Sonographers must obtain certification within one year of the hire date or cross-training.
  • Current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, or the ability to obtain it within 90 days of employment.
  • Vascular technologists must hold the applicable ARDMS RVT, ARRT RT (VS), or CCI RVS vascular technology certification.
  • Breast ultrasound technologists must hold the applicable ARDMS or ARRT breast sonography certification and registration, with MQSA qualification where applicable.
  • Breast ultrasound technologists must have five continuing education units specific to breast ultrasound.
  • Registered technologists must comply with continuing education requirements of their certifying organization and maintain credits pertinent to their ACR-accredited clinical practice.
Responsibilities
  • Operate ultrasound scanning equipment to produce records of designated portions of the human anatomy for infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
Desired Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited school of Ultrasound Technology.
  • Prior experience in ultrasound.
  • Breast ultrasound technologists should have regular experience performing breast ultrasound examinations.
