About the Job

Requirements

  • Demonstrate deep, specialized knowledge of Japan's property and casualty insurance industry, including understanding actual insurance processes and identifying gaps or inconsistencies in requirements.
  • Have at least 3 years of Business Analyst experience in IT implementation projects.
  • Have experience defining business requirements, such as process maps, use cases, and data mappings, in Agile development projects.
  • Communicate independently with Guidewire's global team in Japanese and English, in reading, writing, and conversation; candidates who can accomplish the work using tools despite limited English confidence may also be considered.
  • Hold Guidewire Product Business Analyst certification at Associate level or above. Candidates with Guidewire project experience who have not yet obtained the certification may participate if they make reasonable efforts to obtain it within one month of assignment, unless otherwise agreed.
  • Meet at least one of the following: hold Ace-level Guidewire Product Business Analyst Certification; be able to create business scenarios grounded in specific Guidewire product behavior and describe what changes in the product; have worked as a business or IT professional at a Japanese property and casualty insurer or on a related project; or have a track record of independently validating requirements using a partner-company expert network.
  • Be able to question, improve, and clarify requirements; communicate directly with technical teams; proactively address issues and guide them to resolution on time; and use insurance and Guidewire expertise to provide value beyond recording requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Define detailed, development-ready business requirements that accurately reflect changes required in Guidewire products, making specific changes clear rather than describing abstract requirements disconnected from implementation.
  • Create user stories based on business requirements, with clear acceptance criteria detailed enough for developers to implement without further clarification.
  • Define the data, workflow, and system-integration requirements needed to deliver each feature.
  • Document business rules, business processes, configuration requirements, data mappings, Type List Values, and business scenarios at a level usable by the development team.
  • Lead or support requirements-definition sessions with customers and stakeholders.
  • Validate completed user stories and UX designs from a business perspective and confirm they meet the original business objectives before acceptance.
  • Conduct business-focused user acceptance testing, identify defects, and support their resolution.
  • Work with the quality assurance team to ensure requirements are testable and test cases reflect actual business scenarios.
  • Translate business requirements into functional specifications and contribute to customer-facing documentation.
  • Proactively use the partner company's expert network to validate requirements without escalating to Guidewire.
  • Share insurance business knowledge with team members as needed.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience using AI-powered requirements-generation tools.
  • Experience with multiple Guidewire products, such as both PolicyCenter and BillingCenter.
  • Formal education or training in Business Analysis methods.
