Essa Kazim, Group CEO Mr. Yuvraj Narayan and members of DP World's Global Board of Directors engage with JNPA leadership to explore opportunities for deeper collaboration and future investment. Inauguration of Phase 2 of Nhava Sheva Business Park adds one million square feet of warehousing capacity, backed by an investment of approximately ₹500 crore ($52 million), strengthening DP World's integrated logistics ecosystem in India. MUMBAI, India, Oct. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ - DP World has reaffirmed its long-term commitment to India's economic growth and global trade ambitions, as H.E. Essa Kazim, Executive Chairman, made his first visit to the country in his new role, accompanied by Mr. Yuvraj Narayan, Group Chief Executive Officer, and members of DP World's Global Board of Directors. The visit reflects the strategic importance of India to DP World's global growth agenda and its commitment to building world-class trade and logistics infrastructure in partnership with the country. As India strengthens its position as a global manufacturing, consumption and export hub, DP World continues to invest in capabilities that connect businesses to international markets, enhance supply chain resilience and support the country's evolving trade requirements. A key engagement during the visit was a meeting with Mr. Gaurav Dayal, IAS, Chairman of the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) and Mr. Ravish Kumar, IRTS, Deputy Chairman, reaffirming a partnership spanning nearly three decades. Beginning with the concession agreement for Nhava Sheva International Container Terminal (NSICT), the association has played a role in the development of India's public-private partnership model in port infrastructure. The discussions focused on strengthening this longstanding relationship and exploring opportunities for future collaboration, including the development of Vadhavan Port and further investment in the JNPA Special Economic Zone. The engagement underscored the importance of sustained collaboration between the public and private sectors in developing the infrastructure, connectivity and capacity needed to support India's next phase of trade-led growth. As part of the visit, H.E. Essa Kazim and Mr. Yuvraj Narayan inaugurated Phase 2 of the Nhava Sheva Business Park (NSBP) in the presence of members of DP World's Global Board of Directors. The business park's first phase spans 44 acres and provides one million square feet of warehousing space. The newly inaugurated second phase covers an additional 42 acres and will add a further one million square feet of warehousing capacity, representing an investment of approximately ₹500 crore ($52 million). Together, the two phases strengthen DP World's ability to support the growing and increasingly sophisticated requirements of customers across industries. Commenting on the visit and the company's commitment to India, H.E. Essa Kazim, Executive Chairman, DP World, said, "India is a strategic partner in DP World's global growth journey, and we see significant opportunities to contribute to the country's ambitions as a leading global trading nation. Our commitment goes beyond investing in infrastructure; it is about building enduring partnerships, strengthening connectivity and creating integrated supply chain solutions that enable Indian businesses to compete more effectively in global markets. The expansion of Nhava Sheva Business Park reflects our confidence in India's long-term potential and our continued focus on meeting the evolving needs of our customers. We look forward to deepening our collaboration with government and industry partners to support India's growth and unlock new opportunities for trade." The expansion is part of DP World's broader vision to develop an integrated logistics ecosystem at Nhava Sheva, connecting port operations with container freight stations, rail, warehousing and Free Trade Warehousing Zone capabilities. By bringing these complementary services together, DP World enables customers to move cargo more efficiently, optimise logistics costs and access end-to-end supply chain solutions through a connected infrastructure network. The investment reflects a customer-led approach to growth, anticipating changing business needs while providing the capacity, flexibility and connectivity required to serve both domestic and international trade. It also reinforces DP World's focus on developing infrastructure that creates long-term value for customers and contributes to the wider competitiveness of India's logistics sector. DP World signs 15-year concession for terminal at Bangladesh's Chittagong port.

DP World signs 15-year concession for terminal at Bangladesh's Chittagong port. Deal expected to improve supply chain efficiency. October 08, 2026 Global ports operator DP World has signed a 15-year concession agreement with Bangladesh's Chittagong Port to operate a new terminal that is expected to boost economic activity in the South Asian nation. The public-private partnership deal for the New Mooring Container Terminal (NMCT) is anticipated to improve supply chain efficiency and strengthen Bangladesh's trade and logistics capabilities, the Dubai company said in a statement on Thursday. Under the agreement, which also includes the operation of the overflow container yard, the NMCT will remain under the ownership of the Chittagong Port Authority. DP World did not disclose the value of its investment in the project. The partnership will allow the NMCT to tap into DP World's global network, which includes ports, infrastructure and supply chain services, DP World executive chairman Essa Kazim said. "Bangladesh is an increasingly important trading and manufacturing economy, and we are committed to supporting its continued development," he added. The collaboration builds on an initial pact signed between the Dubai government and the Public-Private Partnership Authority under the Bangladesh Prime Minister's Office, aimed at advancing strategic infrastructure development through PPP initiatives. The development plan includes upgrades to the terminal's civil and equipment infrastructure, use of digital solutions and operational enhancements to improve cargo handling efficiency and growing trade volumes. Working with the Chittagong Port Authority, DP World will focus on key operational areas including berth planning, yard management, equipment utilisation, preventive maintenance, safety and sustainability, it said. The partnership is expected to support local workforce development and the introduction of international operating practices. "By supporting domestic industry and facilitating more efficient trade flows, the partnership [with DP World] will strengthen Bangladesh's position in regional and global supply chains while creating a stronger platform for investment and long-term economic growth," said SM Moniruzzaman, chairman of the Chittagong Port Authority. DP World has a global handling capacity of 110 million 20-foot-equivalent units and is responsible for the movement of 10 per cent of global daily trade, according to its website. It has invested about $10 billion in a logistics network that now spans 85 countries. The company is aggressively expanding internationally. Its latest ventures include investing $90 million to upgrade Angola's Port of Luanda and exploring two major port and economic zone projects in Nigeria. Updated: October 08, 2026, 7:30 AM

UAE's DP World wins 15-year Bangladesh port deal after years of delay

Bangladesh has signed a 15-year agreement with Dubai-based DP World to operate and maintain the New Mooring Container Terminal at the country's largest port. The deal, finalised on Thursday, concludes years of negotiations over the politically sensitive infrastructure project. The agreement aims to modernise the facility, though foreign involvement in the strategic asset has encountered resistance. DP World, a major logistics company based in the UAE, will handle operations and maintenance at the terminal under the contract. The project has faced significant delays due to political sensitivities surrounding foreign control of key infrastructure assets in Bangladesh.

Italy-Cyprus maritime forum to strengthen shipping cooperation. 8/10/2026 13:41 Read Stockwatch Ltd first on Search and AI The DP World Terminal in Limassol will host on October 9 the Italy-Cyprus Maritime Business Forum. Promoted by the Embassy of Italy in Nicosia, the Forum will bring together key players from the maritime and shipping sectors of both countries, with the aim of creating new opportunities for business cooperation. The Forum will focus on trade relations in two sectors of key importance to both economies and of particular relevance in today's regional geopolitical context: shipping and maritime services. A press release issued by the Italian Embassy said that the Forum is organised in cooperation with ICE - Italian Trade Agency, the Italian-Cypriot Chamber of Commerce, the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), the Cyprus Shipping Chamber, Invest Cyprus, the Limassol Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Cyprus-Italy Business Association, with the support of DP World. It is held under the auspices of the Shipping Deputy Ministry to the President of the Republic of Cyprus and with the support of the Mayor of Limassol, Yiannis Armeftis. As noted, the maritime sector alone accounts for around 7% of Cyprus' GDP, rising to approximately 25% when the wider blue economy - from coastal tourism to fisheries and aquaculture - is taken into account. Italy's figures are equally striking and reflect its long-standing expertise in shipbuilding, insurance and logistics: the country ranks first in the world for its trade surplus in shipbuilding, with exports exceeding €5 billion in 2025, and is the global leader in superyachts, accounting for 56% of worldwide orders by volume and 36% by value. According to the press release, the Forum is built on the conviction that cooperation between Italy and Cyprus in the blue economy should grow on two fronts. On the business front, the goal, according to CCCI, is to strengthen ties between the two business communities by connecting shipowners, ship managers, shipyards, port operators, insurers and service providers. On the strategic front, the aim is threefold: to support the development of sustainable ports that are increasingly integrated with their cities, within a European framework and in line with EU green transition rules; to promote best practices and high compliance standards in fleet management, harnessing the most suitable technologies to remain competitive; and to foster international cooperation along strategic maritime corridors, starting with IMEC, in order to attract new investment in ports and terminals. Alongside the sessions, the Forum will provide networking opportunities designed to encourage direct dialogue and to build new partnerships and synergies between businesses and institutions from both countries. In addition to the Shipping Deputy Minister, Marina Hadjimanolis, and the Mayor of Limassol, Yiannis Armeftis, participants will include the European Commissioner for Fisheries and Oceans, Costas Kadis, who will address the Forum by video message, Vittorio Torbianelli, Head of International Relations at the Port System Authority of the Eastern Adriatic Sea, and Rona Panteli, IMEC Representative and Head of the Connectivity Unit at the Cyprus Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Representatives of leading Italian and Cypriot industry associations and of companies from both countries active in shipping and maritime services will also take part. StockWatch in your inbox! "The sea has always connected Italy and Cyprus, and today it can become the engine of an even more ambitious economic partnership," said the Ambassador of Italy to Cyprus, Antonella Cavallari. "Cyprus is one of the world's great international shipping hubs, while Italy is a global benchmark in shipbuilding, logistics and green technologies. With this Forum, we want to turn this complementarity into concrete projects: new partnerships between companies, between ports and between port cities, looking ahead to the great trade routes of the future, such as the IMEC corridor. I would like to thank all our Italian and Cypriot partners who have made this initiative possible," she noted.
