About the company

Oma Robotics (formerly Thread Robotics) is a medical technology company focused on fertility care. It operates in a business-to-business model, aiming to help fertility clinics and labs provide IVF and egg-freezing services more accessible and affordable by using artificial intelligence and robotics. Its technology automates critical laboratory procedures, including automated gamete selection and automated cell positioning, through hardware and software designed for fertility labs. The company differentiates itself with patents covering automated γamete selection and cell positioning, signaling a focus on end-to-end lab automation rather than consumer-facing devices. Its goal is to streamline laboratory workflows in fertility treatment to reduce costs and increase availability for patients. This company previously raised seed funding and planned to acquire operations, but ceased active operations in 2023, with its CEO indicating it did not file for bankruptcy at that time.
