Requirements
  • Trade School Certificate, Associates Degree in Machine Technology or High School Diploma/GED equivalent and minimum 2 years experience in setting up and operating CNC machines
  • Knowledge of how to set and use gauges such as calipers, bore micrometers, dial indicators, etc.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both oral and written
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints for datum lines and tolerances
  • Ability to interpret GD&T
  • Understand and use of measuring devices
  • Use of advance shop math
  • Ability to work overtime
Responsibilities
  • Follow all applicable policies and procedures and ensure safety rules are observed
  • Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (safety glasses, goggles, gloves, ear plugs, metatarsal safety shoes, etc.) as required
  • Required to work overtime schedule as requested to meet production needs based on established overtime procedures
  • Operate machinist tools including CNC machines
  • Use precision measuring devices to effectively machine parts
  • Deburr parts
  • Participate in problem solving, continuous improvement initiatives and provide feedback in areas of people, Quality, Velocity and Cost
  • Use blueprints, gauges, torque measuring devices and/or other equipment to ensure conformance to quality specifications
  • Use andon for identification of variance from standard work
  • Be available to assist in other areas as needed
  • Participate in activities and exercises in support of the Caterpillar Production System (CPS) – 5S, RIWs, etc.
