Ontario Northland

Public bus and rail agency in Northern Ontario

Ontario Northland is a provincial transportation agency that runs intercity buses, passenger trains and rail freight services for communities and businesses in Northern Ontario. Its Polar Bear Express links Cochrane and Moosonee, while freight connections give regional shippers access to rail networks across North America. The agency also rebuilds locomotives and passenger rail cars for other railway and transit operators at its North Bay repair centre. It earns fares and service fees, with provincial funding supporting transportation operations and infrastructure. Established by the Ontario government in 1902, it is headquartered in North Bay, Ontario.
