About the company

Onyx Bio builds a longitudinal, data-driven model of human immune response. It collects multi-omics data from the same participants over time—single-cell transcriptomics with T- and B-cell receptor tracking, proteomics of about 1,000 plasma proteins, metabolomics, and genomics—linked to clinical events like infection, vaccination, or treatment changes. All samples are processed in their own Berkeley lab, and participants include healthy adults and people with autoimmune disease who participate in discovery. The goal is to accelerate medicine development by improving understanding of immune biology and how treatments affect it through detailed, time-resolved data.

Onyx Bio raises $8M seed round to build AI-powered virtual immune system

Onyx Bio has raised $8 million in seed funding from Dimension Capital, Haystack, Refactor Capital, Standard Lithium, and Robot Ventures. The company is building a virtual immune system from longitudinal multi-omics data drawn from real people. It tracks participants over long periods, collecting multi-dimensional immune and clinical data. AI models then recreate how the human immune system changes over time. The approach is meant to reveal the mechanisms behind autoimmune diseases and infection-related immune responses. Onyx Bio supplies biopharma companies with real human benchmark datasets, helping them develop immune-related drugs and treatments more efficiently and safely.

Onyx launches immune-research venture, announces $8 million seed round.

Onyx launches immune-research venture, announces $8 million seed round. Onyx publicly introduced its immune-research business on October 8 and said it had raised an $8 million seed round led by Dimension Capital. It aims to follow people's immune systems over time, building a model researchers could use to investigate disease and differences in treatment response. Research built from repeat visits. Onyx says it combines protein measurements and gene activity in individual immune cells with participants' clinical histories, following changes over months and years. Repeated measurements could help researchers observe immune changes within the same person rather than rely on a single snapshot. The company says nearly 1,000 people have joined its studies. That is company-reported study participation, not a sales figure; its launch announcement does not identify a paying research customer. Onyx says the seed financing will help expand its model and support researchers working to turn findings into medicines. What the earlier filing establishes. Onyx also names Haystack, Refactor Capital, Standard and Robot Ventures among its investors, without presenting that list as exhaustive. A Form D filed February 26 for Onyx Bio, Inc. reports $7,999,999 of equity securities sold as of filing, with February 13 as the first-sale date. Its business contact details match those on Onyx's announcement. Neither the filing nor the October announcement expressly identifies the filed offering as the announced seed round. The similar amounts should not be counted as two raises, and the announcement does not establish an October closing date. MentionFox had described the February filing in an account marked last updated October 7, before Onyx's public introduction.
