Requirements
  • A Bachelor's Degree and 2 to 4 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is required.
  • Experience executing all Clinical Research Coordinator responsibilities for an interventional drug or device trial is required; experience limited to human data sets or bench laboratory research does not satisfy this requirement.
  • Mid-level professional skills and well-developed speaking, writing, and interpersonal abilities are required.
  • Basic math skills are required.
  • High proficiency with the UPHS medical records system and research processes must be present at hire or developed immediately thereafter.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of the regulatory environment for human subjects research is required, including ICH Good Clinical Practice, 21 CFR, 45 CFR 46, the HIPAA Privacy Rule, and similar requirements.
  • Excellent customer service orientation and problem-solving skills are required.
  • The candidate must be dependable, compassionate, self-motivated, highly efficient, able to meet deadlines, and able to organize, prioritize, and execute varied tasks.
  • The candidate must demonstrate sensitivity to the needs and comfort of children, patients, and their families.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Willingness and ability to accommodate study and department or institutional needs outside the regular 40-hour work week is required.
  • Compliance with UPHS vaccination and immunization policies, clinical clearance, and other applicable departmental clinical-staff policies is required.
  • The candidate must pass Pennsylvania Child Protective Services Act and federal background checks within 30 to 90 days of employment.
Responsibilities
  • Support faculty, residents, and fellows of the Department of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, in preparing, conducting, and completing human subjects research projects and sub-projects.
  • Primarily support clinical research related to Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva.
  • Acquire and apply regulatory knowledge to protect research patient safety and data integrity.
  • Complete tasks delegated by the study Principal Investigator and assigned by the Project Manager.
  • Work independently and collaboratively on initial duties, evolving departmental and institutional initiatives, required training, and other job responsibilities.
  • Work on department-level research, education, and quality or process improvement initiatives as required.
  • Accommodate study and department or institutional needs outside the posted hours when patient-safety or deadline-driven issues require it.
Desired Qualifications
  • Clinical research experience with Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva patients or patients with rare debilitating diseases.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English and at least college-level English reading proficiency.
  • Experience with electronic data collection systems.
  • ACRP and/or SoCRA certification, which is preferred but not required.
