Requirements
  • 8–10+ years of progressive experience in logistics, third-party logistics, digital brokerage, supply chain procurement, or carrier management.
  • 5+ years of direct people management experience leading high-performing teams, specifically managing Carrier Development Managers, relationship managers, or carrier procurement professionals.
  • Deep operational fluency across North America, including intimate knowledge of carrier cost drivers, supply economics, and macro market cycles.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with strategic carrier partners to understand their business objectives and align marketplace volume to help them scale.
  • Architect and execute joint business strategies that maximize carrier benefits while securing dedicated capacity.
  • Advocate for carriers internally and partner with Product and Operations to reduce friction and improve the carrier experience.
  • Identify network-level patterns and multi-shipper synergies to unlock structural savings, optimize carrier routing, and improve marketplace efficiency.
  • Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing team of Carrier Development Managers across strategic hubs.
  • Provide strategic direction to Carrier Development Managers as they expand carrier accounts, unlock mutual benefits, and secure capacity commitments.
  • Establish team roadmaps and supply strategies aligned with financial and marketplace goals.
  • Present multimodal capacity, supply economics, and partnership strategies to enterprise shipper executives and senior leadership.
  • Build relationships across Sales, Account Management, Operations, and Product to understand changing shipper demands and commercial needs.
  • Translate business insights, pipeline developments, and shipper challenges into carrier development and capacity sourcing strategies.
  • Serve as the conduit between commercial teams and the carrier network to solve capacity constraints and execution bottlenecks.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to accelerate carrier technology development and integrate carriers into the network.
  • Manage and expand existing strategic carrier accounts to increase volume and secure dedicated, long-term capacity commitments.
  • Design and execute joint business strategies focused on benefits, lane optimization, and asset utilization.
  • Conduct high-level Quarterly Business Reviews focused on multi-year growth paths, performance tracking, and network efficiency.
  • Identify and target new, un-networked carriers to expand marketplace capacity.
  • Lead outbound prospecting, digital marketing campaigns, and cold-calling initiatives to attract new fleets.
  • Oversee initial carrier setup and remove administrative roadblocks to accelerate activation.
  • Partner with Risk, Safety, and Legal to vet new carriers against FMCSA, DOT, and internal insurance thresholds.
  • Analyze marketplace data to identify regional capacity deficits and lane-level gaps, then direct targeted sourcing efforts.
  • Establish introductory pricing baselines, spot-market expectations, and contract templates for newly onboarded carriers.
Desired Qualifications
  • Proven experience managing executive-level carrier relationships and driving joint business planning or carrier success initiatives.
  • Ability to identify and unlock structural efficiencies and multi-shipper synergies across fragmented supply chain networks.
  • Ability to navigate matrixed organizations and build effective internal partnerships.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a highly analytical field.
  • Advanced proficiency in data analytics tools such as Tableau, SQL, or Google Workspace, with experience converting shipping data into strategic pricing and capacity models.
  • Experience across Truckload, Less-than-Truckload, Intermodal, Bulk, and Flatbed transportation sectors.

Uber Freight hires Amazon and Convoy veteran as CPO to boost AI-driven logistics platform

Uber Freight has appointed Amir Pelleg as chief product officer to advance its AI-driven transportation management platform. Pelleg brings over 25 years of experience leading product, engineering and operations teams at companies including Amazon, Convoy and Dandy. The appointment reflects Uber Freight's focus on technology that helps customers make faster decisions and reduce supply chain complexity. Pelleg said AI can connect fragmented data across disconnected systems, enabling more proactive network management. He emphasised that effective products must address actual customer problems rather than simply deploy new technology. Pelleg cited fragmentation as a major obstacle facing modern supply chains, with data often siloed across different systems. San Francisco-based Uber Technologies operates three platforms: Uber ride-hailing, Uber Freight logistics, and Uber Eats delivery services.

Uber Freight revenue rises $47M year-on-year as operating loss narrows to $30M

Uber Freight reported its first year-on-year revenue increase in two years, rising to $1.34 billion from $1.26 billion in the first quarter. The digital broker recorded an operating loss of $30 million for the quarter. This marks the first time Uber reported its three segments—Mobility, Delivery and Freight—on an operating income basis rather than EBITDA. Previous quarters showed operating losses of $26 million, $40 million and $18 million for the second, third and fourth quarters of 2024, respectively. CEO Rebecca Tinucci attributed the revenue growth to strong enterprise demand and managed transportation performance, noting the company maintained service levels whilst competitors pulled back during market tightening. Uber Freight has only achieved positive EBITDA twice since inception, both in 2022.

Uber Freight Completes Acquisition of Transplace
