Requirements
  • Minimum 10 years of occupational health experience, with a significant portion in a corporate or enterprise setting; clinical-only or hospital-based backgrounds do not meet the requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience managing external occupational health vendors, contracted physicians, and third-party medical surveillance providers, including request for proposal and selection, onboarding, performance oversight, and quality assurance across multiple geographies.
  • Experience developing and implementing evidence-based occupational health programs at scale, including medical surveillance, fitness-for-duty, return-to-work, and hazard-based examination programs.
  • Domain knowledge spanning industrial hygiene, ergonomics, psychosocial risk assessment, infectious disease, and reproductive health.
  • Demonstrated experience identifying, assessing, and controlling occupational hazards to worker health.
  • Familiarity with global injury and illness reporting requirements, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations, and equivalent frameworks.
  • Ability to collect, interpret, and present data to measure program effectiveness and support evidence-based decisions.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence without direct authority across Human Resources, Legal, Benefits, and Environment, Health & Safety teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate clinical and regulatory complexity into clear guidance for non-medical audiences.
  • Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree with completion of a residency in Occupational Medicine.
  • Current board certification in Occupational Medicine from the American Board of Preventive Medicine or equivalent at the time of hire.
  • Active licensure in one or more states and ability to obtain additional licensure as needed.
Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical oversight and set evidence-based standards for Apple's global medical surveillance programs, including Respiratory Protection, Hearing Conservation, Vision Conservation, Reproductive Health, Bloodborne Pathogen, Infection Control, and Chemical Exposure programs.
  • Lead the development and continuous improvement of global fitness-for-duty, surveillance, pre-placement, periodic, and baseline health examination programs.
  • Review and provide medical opinions on worker injury and illness cases, and guide employee support, care coordination, and corrective actions.
  • Evaluate workplace incidents from a clinical perspective and develop ongoing care plans and preventive measures.
  • Select, onboard, and manage global occupational health vendors and contracted physicians across all regions; establish performance standards, conduct regular reviews, and ensure quality and compliance.
  • Oversee vendor delivery of legally mandated health check programs, including new hire, periodic, medical surveillance, return-to-work, and termination programs in each jurisdiction; identify and close coverage gaps.
  • Partner with Procurement and Legal on vendor contracting, scope of services, and data privacy compliance, including GDPR, LGPD, and PIPL.
  • Serve as the clinical authority on occupational health law and ethics in locations where Apple does business, ensuring programs meet or exceed local requirements.
  • Maintain current knowledge of global occupational health regulations and advise Environment, Health & Safety, Legal, and Human Resources teams on emerging compliance obligations.
  • Manage and maintain records for regulatory and company-mandated medical surveillance programs in accordance with applicable data privacy and retention requirements.
  • Support global injury and illness reporting obligations, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations, and equivalent requirements, with accurate medical documentation and data.
  • Partner with Health, Benefits, the Wellness Center, and other stakeholders to understand workplace-related injury and illness drivers and develop preventive and educational programs.
  • Lead or contribute to planning and redesigning work processes for health protection, ergonomics, and hazard reduction.
  • Manage prevention and clinical management of health issues related to international travel, including vaccination programs and travel medicine advice for globally mobile employees.
  • Conduct and synthesize research into work-related health issues and translate findings into actionable recommendations for business stakeholders.
  • Develop psychosocial risk assessment programs and partner with Human Resources and Employee Relations to address work-related mental health risks.
Desired Qualifications
  • International or multi-country program experience, including familiarity with occupational health regulatory frameworks outside the United States, such as European Union directives, Asia-Pacific regulations, and Latin American NOM/NR standards.
  • Experience in research, manufacturing, or technology hardware environments involving chemical, radiation, or ergonomic exposures.
  • Familiarity with travel medicine and health management for internationally mobile employees.
  • Experience with psychosocial risk programs and workplace mental health frameworks.
  • Master of Public Health, Master of Science in Occupational Health, or equivalent graduate training in public health or environmental health sciences.

Bank of America cuts Apple price target to $370 after iPhone Duo foldable launch

Bank of America cut its Apple price target to $370 from $380 whilst maintaining a Buy rating, following the iPhone Duo launch under new CEO John Ternus. Analyst Wamsi Mohan cited lower-than-expected iPhone pricing pressuring gross margins amid elevated component costs. The iPhone Duo, Apple's first foldable phone, features a 7.6-inch inner display and 5.4-inch outer display, both supporting Dynamic Island and 120Hz ProMotion. Starting at $1,999, it launches 23 October with pre-orders opening 16 October. Mohan called the foldable the event's standout, noting its potential to reach mainstream audiences through features like dual capture in FaceTime. Citi described it as Apple's biggest new hardware category since the Watch and AirPods.

Apple Watch can record 15 seconds of conversation without both speakers' consent

Apple's new Watch Series 12 features Audio Intelligence capabilities that can record conversations without consent from all parties. The Live Rewind function captures 15 seconds of conversation and converts it to text after the wearer double-presses the Digital Crown. Whilst the watch emits an audible tone to alert nearby people, this doesn't constitute legal consent in 11 US states requiring all-party consent for recordings. The watch processes audio through its S11 chip and nearby iPhone, discarding the original recording after creating text. Siri Recap summarises conversations throughout the day without retaining audio or identifying speakers. The Electronic Frontier Foundation criticised the feature, arguing people lack practical means to consent or decline recording. EFF's Adam Schwartz warned the technology threatens conversational privacy and spontaneity, urging users to reconsider using it out of respect for others.

AT&T CEO dismisses $2K Apple iPhone Duo as 'not new', doubts foldable will break niche status

AT&T CEO John Stankey expressed scepticism about Apple's newly unveiled foldable iPhone Duo, priced at $1,999. Speaking at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia and Technology Conference, Stankey said the device is "not new", noting that Android manufacturers like Samsung and Google have sold foldables for years without broad market success. "What we've seen is that it tends to function more as a specific niche type application as opposed to [being] broadly accepted," Stankey said. He acknowledged Apple could prove him wrong but doubted it would change market dynamics significantly. IDC analyst Francisco Jeronimo estimates foldables represent only about 2.2% of global smartphone sales in 2026. Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 8 retails for $1,899.

Apple's foldable iPhone Duo starts at $1,999, but will shoppers actually buy it?

Apple unveiled its first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo, priced from $1,999 to $3,199. The device features a 7.6-inch inner display and 5.4-inch outer screen, allowing users to run two apps simultaneously. The Duo costs $800 more than Apple's new iPhone 18 Pro. CEO John Ternus called it "the most transformational change to iPhone since the original". Whilst Samsung, Huawei, Google, and Motorola already sell foldables, these devices remain niche. IDC expects global foldable shipments to reach 22.9 million units in 2026, representing just over 2% of the smartphone market. However, analysts believe Apple's entry could shift the landscape. IDC forecasts Apple will ship over 17 million foldable iPhones by 2027, capturing roughly 40% of the global foldables market. The company's large customer base may drive broader adoption of the expensive new format.
