Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience is required.
  • At least 4 years of software engineering experience, ideally 4–6 years, and at least 4 years of hands-on IBM App Connect Enterprise experience are required.
  • Working knowledge of ESQL, Java, message flows, Data Format Description Language, and data transformation is required.
  • Proficiency in designing and implementing REST APIs and service orchestration is required.
  • A solid understanding of synchronous, asynchronous, publish/subscribe, and event-driven integration patterns is required.
  • Hands-on experience with IBM MQ, HTTP integrations, Java Database Connectivity, and file-based flows is required.
  • Experience deploying solutions on Docker, Kubernetes, or Red Hat OpenShift is required.
  • Working knowledge of software design, data structures, algorithms, code construction, versioning, and deployment is required.
  • Strong troubleshooting, performance tuning, and code review skills are required, including assessing correctness, readability, flexibility, supportability, and security.
  • Experience with continuous integration and deployment and test-driven development is required.
  • An understanding of efficient compute-resource utilization is required.
  • The ability to articulate the advantages and disadvantages of relational and non-relational database types is required.
  • An effective method for estimating solution coding time is required.
Responsibilities
  • Apply and contribute to integration patterns, standards, and best practices, including REST, SOAP, MQ, Kafka, and event-driven integration.
  • Develop solution architecture documents that map technical requirements to integration designs.
  • Evaluate and recommend integration technologies.
  • Develop IBM App Connect Enterprise message flows, subflows, message models, and integration services.
  • Implement integrations using ESQL, Java, and other supported technologies.
  • Build and secure REST APIs, SOAP web services, and event-based integrations.
  • Work with message sets, Data Format Description Language schemas, JSON, XML, and data transformation tools.
  • Integrate IBM App Connect Enterprise with IBM MQ, HTTP(S), Java Database Connectivity, SaaS endpoints, Kafka, and cloud-native services.
  • Deploy IBM App Connect Enterprise solutions on containers, Kubernetes/OpenShift, or on-premises environments.
  • Implement continuous integration and deployment automation for integration services using Git, Jenkins, Tekton, UrbanCode, or equivalent tools.
  • Configure IBM App Connect Enterprise runtime components, bar files, policies, and security profiles.
  • Troubleshoot integration issues, performance bottlenecks, and runtime errors.
  • Optimize message flows and improve reliability, resiliency, and throughput.
  • Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting using AppDynamics, Splunk, ELK, or IBM tools.
  • Lead end-to-end execution of moderately complex projects and features through delegation, code review, and delivery of well-scoped technical solutions.
  • Contribute to the software engineering roadmap by delivering well-scoped technical solutions.
  • Manage and partner with third-party providers, vendors, and contractors to ensure project delivery meets quality and timeliness standards.
  • Implement and test complex code changes to fix defects in existing software products.
  • Add enhancements to new and future software releases and assist in developing design solutions.
  • Execute cloud-based configuration plans for new systems and technologies.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to the software development lifecycle and agile engineering practices.
  • Lead the delivery of high-quality feature designs and deliverables.
  • Identify opportunities for multiple products to work together to create customer value.
  • Integrate product features with product design considerations and track related metrics.
  • Document design decisions and system support requirements.
  • Partner with cross-functional peers and customers to understand software requirements and propose solutions.
  • Collaborate on solution design and estimation of coding tasks and user stories.
  • Support less experienced team members through mentoring, training assistance, and technical support.
  • Drive improvements in source code management, test processes and automation, logging, system health monitoring, and related automation.
  • Add code comments and refactor code to improve readability, modularity, and maintainability when needed.
  • Participate in a team on-call rotation and resolve the root causes of software failures.
  • Influence source code strategy, application performance, product feature decisions, customer experiences, and software maintainability.
  • Influence the work of the team and cross-functional peers.
  • Liaise with business analysts to develop tools and templates for gathering and addressing client and business requirements.
