  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, communicate, and collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders and staff at all levels, both independently and within a team structure.
  • A bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field and five years of experience in public relations, journalism, corporate communications, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing communications for a range of media and working with creative professionals in design, photography, or video.
Responsibilities
  • Create and implement a communications strategy in support of the unit's short- and long-term goals and objectives; coordinate with other communications professionals to achieve institutional goals; and lead the communications process within developed standards and protocols.
  • Lead and advise on leadership communications, programs, messages, stakeholder engagement, and activities.
  • Manage relationships with key campus stakeholders with a high degree of professionalism, judgment, and understanding of stakeholder goals.
  • Create compelling story ideas and narratives; produce content for external and internal channels; write copy and social media posts; and manage content.
  • Plan social media strategies for key University communications and programs, and monitor University social media assets for negative comments or misinformation.
  • Produce multimedia content and manage the work of graphic and web designers, student interns, printers, video producers, and photographers.
  • Manage communication plans for all stakeholders by understanding the significance of campus initiatives and creating clear, accessible stories and messages for public awareness.
  • Maintain Yale brand and graphic identity standards; support and maintain standard operating procedures; and contribute to digital asset management.
  • Supervise an additional communications expert embedded in Central IT supporting Information Security.
  • Coordinate communications resources across internal communications, incident communications, project deployments, and service representation.
  • Convene and coordinate distributed communications personnel across IT units to align messaging and support organizational strategy.

  • Demonstrated experience developing communications for a range of media and working with creative professionals in design, photography, or video.
  • Experience in and passion for an IT or academic setting.
