Across the developing world, more children than ever are in school – but they are not learning. A recent study estimated that less than 1% of school children in Sub-Saharan Africa attend a school where the teaching meets basic standards of quality. At Rising Academies, we’re changing that, and we want your help. Our mission is to create the best schools and the most powerful teaching and learning tools for the people that need it most. We’re one of the fastest-growing quality-focused education companies in Africa, and a Certified B Corp®.
About us:
Founded in Sierra Leone in 2014, we’ve spent over a decade developing a unique blend of high-tech and low-tech solutions that dramatically improve learning outcomes and strengthen teaching quality at scale. Across seven rigorous randomized controlled trials, students in Rising-supported schools have learned, on average, 2.4x faster each year than their peers in comparable schools.
Today, we support more than 400,000 students across 1,400 public schools in West and East Africa, working alongside governments to strengthen teaching and learning at scale. Our approach combines structured curriculum, ongoing coaching for teachers and school leaders, and real-time data to drive consistent improvements in classrooms and across every level of public education systems.
Our model is designed to be practical and scalable. We work with and through government systems, adapting our level of support to each context - from hands-on implementation to system-level quality assurance - ensuring that improvements are sustainable and cost-effective over time.
Technology and AI play an important role in this work, not as standalone products, but as tools that strengthen delivery, lower the cost of implementation, and help systems continuously improve at scale. You can learn more about our solutions here: https://www.risingacademies.com/oursolutions

PASCAL launches IMPACT Program with Rising Academies and KOSSA in Sierra Leone.
19/08/2026
The partnership supports locally led education, sport and youth development programs that help young people realize their potential.
LOS ANGELES, Aug. 19, 2026 /PRNewswire/ - PASCAL, the Los Angeles-born colored lab-grown diamond brand, today announced the launch of the PASCAL IMPACT Program, a partnership with Rising Academies and KOSSA supporting education, sport and youth development in Sierra Leone.
PASCAL IMPACT unites PASCAL, Rising Academies, and KOSSA to support locally led education, sports, and youth development programs in Sierra Leone.
PASCAL believes brilliance is not found only in diamonds. It also lives in people through their resilience, creativity, talent and potential.
Lab-grown technology opens new possibilities for how diamonds can be imagined, bringing color, creativity, identity and self-expression to the forefront.
Sierra Leone has a complex history with diamonds, but its people and future are not defined by that history alone. For PASCAL, this partnership is an opportunity to help support a different diamond story, one shaped by education, sport and human potential. Through their locally grounded work, Rising Academies and KOSSA are helping young people build the skills, confidence and opportunities to shape their own futures.
"Colored diamonds have always been a way to express individuality," said Adam Hua, CEO of PASCAL. "With PASCAL IMPACT, we want to extend that idea of brilliance beyond the stone and recognize the potential already present in Sierra Leone. Our role is to support local organizations doing meaningful work and give our community a transparent way to take part."
The program brings together two partners with complementary areas of expertise. Rising Academies works with schools and public education systems to strengthen teaching and learning, while KOSSA uses sport and youth development to help build confidence, skills and stronger communities.
"Every child deserves the opportunity to fulfil their potential. Through this partnership with KOSSA and PASCAL, we can help more young people in Sierra Leone build the foundational skills, confidence and opportunities they need to shape their own futures. We're grateful to everyone helping make that possible." - Job Matseshe, Regional Director, Rising Academies
"Sport brings joy as well as developing healthier minds and bodies. KOSSA is grateful to work with PASCAL to bring much needed training equipment for after-school activity to the coaches, and boys and girls, we work with." - Antoine Likound, Partner, KOSSA
Customers can make an optional contribution through the dedicated PASCAL IMPACT page or during checkout when purchasing from PASCAL. At either touchpoint, customers can choose to support education or sport initiatives.
As collective contributions reach agreed milestones, PASCAL will work with Rising Academies and KOSSA to publish partner-approved PASCAL IMPACT Stories documenting how the support is being put into action.

A new chapter in The Gambia.
The Gambia has a strong and growing commitment to innovation in education. Last October, Rising Academies launched its first Rori pilot at Madiana Basic Cycle School in partnership with the Region 2 West Education Directorate, operating under the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (MoBSE). Grade 7 students at Madiana have been using Rori, its WhatsApp-based AI maths tutor, to strengthen their numeracy skills through personalised, step-by-step practice, and the early response from students, teachers and school leaders has been genuinely exciting.
Rori is Rising's multi-award-winning AI maths tutor, designed to bring personalised practice to the students who need it most, even in low-connectivity, low-resource settings. Independent research from the University of Oxford and J-PAL found that regular use doubled maths learning outcomes, and Rori has now reached over 200,000 young people across Sub Saharan Africa. The Gambia is the newest addition to that story.
As the pilot has grown, so too has its relationship with the Regional Directorate - and Rising Academies now find ourselves marking an important transition. Rising Academies want to extend its heartfelt congratulations to Mr Paul K. Mendy on his retirement after many years of dedicated service to education in The Gambia. Mr Mendy was instrumental in getting the Rori pilot off the ground, helping to create the enabling environment for this kind of innovation to flourish. It has been a genuine privilege to work alongside him, and Rising Academies is deeply grateful for the guidance, collaboration, and encouragement he brought to its partnership throughout.
By partnering with KCS, Rising Academies is bolstering its child safeguarding policies and practices to ensure every child can learn in a safe, nurturing environment.
