Requirements
  • The candidate must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey.
  • The candidate must hold current Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Basic Life Support certifications.
  • The candidate must maintain valid American Heart Association certification in Basic Life Support.
  • The candidate must hold Phlebotomy Certification or Intravenous (IV) Certification.
  • Proficiency in the English language is required.
  • The candidate must be able to employ problem-solving techniques and critical thinking.
  • The candidate must have effective interpersonal skills.
  • The candidate must be able to organize the care and activities of multiple patients.
Responsibilities
  • The Staff Nurse is accountable for the care activities, safety, and goal achievement of assigned patients by assessing, diagnosing, planning, and intervening in actual or potential health problems and evaluating patients' responses to care.
  • The Registered Professional Nurse provides patient education and discharge planning.
  • The Registered Professional Nurse mobilizes patients, prevents skin breakdown and falls, and implements appropriate measures to achieve these goals.
  • The Registered Professional Nurse participates in a designated care team and collaborates, coordinates, and guides team members in planning patient care in a safe environment and achieving patient care goals according to patients' and families' developmental stages and cultural expectations.
  • The Registered Professional Nurse documents care and services in accordance with American Nurses Association Standards of Clinical Practice, Joint Commission standards and Sentinel Event Alert recommendations, Patient/Family-Centered Principles, Department of Health standards, and University Hospital policies and procedures.
  • The Registered Professional Nurse works as a professional licensed staff member of an interdisciplinary team and follows the behavioral expectations of the role and the Nursing Department Philosophy.
Desired Qualifications
  • Successful completion of a Progressive Care Course or Progressive Care Certification is preferred.
  • Pediatric or Adult Medical/Surgical experience is preferred.
