Requirements
  • High school graduation or a General Education Development certificate, plus two years of general office experience including at least one year of administrative experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Good knowledge of office procedures, English spelling, grammar and punctuation, and word processing, database or spreadsheet software packages, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Skill in operating a personal computer and basic office equipment.
  • Ability to accurately enter data and file information, follow verbal and written instructions, and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, County employees and the general public.
  • Must have a valid Texas driver's license, motor vehicle liability insurance and personal injury insurance, or a self-reliant source of transportation to conduct business daily.
  • Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance.
  • Must secure and maintain a pre-employment physical and pre-employment drug screen test.
  • May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek.
  • Ability to work indoors, occasionally move items weighing up to 10–15 pounds, move about the office, communicate accurately with others, operate a computer and office productivity machinery, position oneself to perform essential functions, and remain stationary.
Responsibilities
  • Enter and update data on a personal computer using spreadsheet or database applications, and type moderately complex letters and memos using a personal computer.
  • Prepare invoices, logs, payments, deposits and other financial transactions for the department, and maintain department work orders, requests and tickets.
  • Answer the telephone, route calls and take messages using discretion.
  • Maintain department calendars; assist with events, projects or programs; maintain statistics or databases; and develop reports.
  • Maintain various types of files and access and file confidential information.
  • Open and distribute mail; make copies; prepare packets and distribute information or products accordingly; and maintain office supplies.
  • Respond to general inquiries regarding the department or work.
  • Perform related duties as required.
Desired Qualifications
  • Preferred experience with Infor/Lawson and/or SAP.
