About the company

AutoStore provides automated warehouse systems for business customers, focusing on high-density storage and goods-to-person order fulfillment. It uses a modular cube layout with robots moving on a fixed grid to retrieve bins and bring them to ports, enabling efficient use of warehouse space. What believers are saying

  • Q2 2026 revenue hit $192.1 million, up 43.4% year over year.
  • Order backlog reached $596.1 million after record Q2 order intake on August 13, 2026.
  • Full-year 2026 revenue guidance targets about $700 million, supported by Amazon and Footasylum.

What critics are saying

  • Amazon's August 13 agreement carries no purchase commitments, so revenue can vanish.
  • AutoStore still depends on partners like THG Fulfil; channel execution can bottleneck deployments.
  • A failed Amazon rollout or major recall would damage trust and stall enterprise adoption.

What makes Autostore unique

  • AutoStore's cubic grid maximizes dense storage; Footasylum chose 96,000 bins in June 2026.
  • Its partner-led model scales globally; THG Fulfil delivered Footasylum as first external retailer.
  • Amazon signed a global supply agreement on August 13, 2026, validating the platform.

Ocado selling off robotic grid-pick system ahead of Erith site closure.

Ocado selling off robotic grid-pick system ahead of Erith site closure. Ocado is putting a half-acre sized robotic picking grid up for sale ahead of the closure of one of its distribution centres in Erith next year. The automated picking system comes with close to 100 robots and can be reconfigured to fit the buyer's own warehouse. The system is within one of Ocado's specialised general merchandise distribution centres, located alongside its main CFC in Erith, in south-east London. It was installed in 2017, becoming operational the following year, to handle non-food products sold through Ocado.com such as kitchenware, homeware and small electronics. Explore related questions. However, advances in Ocado's technology means these non-food products can now be handled in Ocado's main Erith CFC, without the need for a separate facility. Ocado workers at the site were told of the closure - planned for spring 2027 - in June. They are being transferred to the main Erith CFC in phases. Curiously, the system on sale is an AutoStore one - a company with which Ocado was locked in a long-running legal battle over patents. In 2023, AutoStore agreed to pay Ocado Group £200m over two years to bring an end to a three-year patent dispute between the two companies. The robotics rivals announced a "complete settlement of all claims" in their global legal wranglings over patents "avoiding further litigation and associated costs". Norwegian company AutoStore in 2020 claimed Ocado's Smart Platform system, which is used across Ocado's highly automated warehouses, was based on its patented technology. "Our ownership of the technology at the heart of Ocado's warehousing system is clear," said AutoStore CEO and president Karl Johan Lier at the time. Ocado said at the time that AutoStore's decision to sue "was a complete waste of time - for us and them". The Grocer understands a site visit is being planned in a couple of weeks for potential purchases to see the system in action. THG Fulfil extends AutoStore distributor deal. THG Ingenuity's fulfillment service THG Fulfil has announced an expansion of its distribution partnership with AutoStore, meaning it can offer picking systems to clients through both traditional capex ownership as well as its a Robotics-as-a-Service (RaaS) model. The expanded agreement gives THG Fulfil global distribution rights for the entire AutoStore product range under the capex model. "Automation should never force brands to choose between control and cash flow," said Tom Killeen, COO, THG Ingenuity. "Our AutoStore distribution offering was originally built around a RaaS model because, for many of our clients, protecting capital while scaling automation was the right call. But as more ambitious brands are ready to own their automation outright, we wanted to give them that option too, without losing any of the design, integration, software and operational expertise that comes with working with THG Fulfil. "It provides CFOs with the ability to assess the merits of both a RaaS and capex route, so we can meet brands and retailers wherever they are in their automation journey," he added. THG Fulfil operates 796 AutoStore robots across its own fulfilment network and has integrated the AutoStore system with its own proprietary warehouse software. It has recently built an AutoStore system for Footasylum, comprising 85 AutoStore R5 robots across more than 96,000 bin locations, storing the retailer's entire live SKU range. Latest. Nowaste Logistics becomes the world's first company to implement AutoCase(TM) from AutoStore(TM), delivered by Swisslog.

Nowaste Logistics becomes the world's first company to implement AutoCase(TM) from AutoStore(TM), delivered by Swisslog. 2026-09-04 10:03 1055 PETALING JAYA, Malaysia, Sept. 4, 2026 /PRNewswire/ - Leading Nordic logistics company, Nowaste Logistics, has become the first company in the world to install an AutoCase(TM) from AutoStore(TM) at one of its warehouses. The innovative solution, launched in autumn 2025, has been supplied and empowered by Swisslog. Nowaste Logistics first to implement AutoCase(TM) from AutoStore(TM) "AutoCase(TM) is a solution that is as simple as it is ingenious. It eliminates time-consuming manual work and increases efficiency, speed, and storage density in one of our highly automated warehouses," says Patrik Johnfors, Head of Solution Design & Implementation at Nowaste Logistics. The warehouse handles large volumes of apparel arriving from Asia in cartons. On arrival, these cartons need to be buffer stored before being decanted and picked within the facility's AutoStore system. "Inbound deliveries of a new collection for the upcoming season take place many weeks before outbound deliveries begin. The inventory also needs to last throughout the entire season, which can be up to six months. Today, we manage this by buffer-storing the cartons on pallets in pallet racking and replenishing or decanting them into the system as goods are shipped. This requires extensive manual buffer handling," explains Johnfors. With the high-density AutoCase(TM) solution, Nowaste Logistics can instead efficiently store cartons directly within the AutoStore(TM) system using AutoCase(TM) upon receipt. The cartons can later be retrieved either as full cases for shipment to the customer or routed to a picking station for individual order fulfillment. "We are very pleased that Nowaste Logistics is the first AutoStore customer to pilot AutoCase(TM). They are a company that embraces innovation, is eager to test new solutions, and is not afraid to challenge established ways of working to improve their operations. At Swisslog, we see the AutoCase port as an important step forward as it expands the range of applications that can be automated with AutoStore technology. By enabling automated case handling directly within the AutoStore system, it supports new workflows and helps customers achieve an even higher level of automation, efficiency, and operational flexibility," says Giulia Colombi, Swisslog CEO EMEA. The solution was installed at the Nowaste Logistics warehouse during the summer and will now be tested with various carton types and sizes before going into full operation. About Nowaste Logistics Nowaste Logistics is one of the leading logistics companies in the Nordic region. The company is values-driven and has a strong focus on FMCG, technical solutions, and e-commerce logistics. Its values of passion, innovation, and responsibility are combined with strengths in automation, IT, and people.
