  • A High School or Equivalent credential is required.
  • ServSafe Manager Certification must be obtained within six months of hire.
  • The role requires frequent standing, walking, reaching, lifting items weighing 40 pounds or less, bending, kneeling, stooping, squatting, climbing, pushing, twisting, and pulling.
  • The role requires the ability to perform repetitive motions involving lifting, keypad entry, typing, chopping, filling, and sealing packaging.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the kitchen's food preparation and service operations, including supervising and training staff.
  • Handle employee issues confidentially and conduct critical performance conversations with staff.
  • Plan, organize, direct, coordinate, and delegate responsibilities to food service staff.
  • Receive and respond to parent, staff, and student complaints in a timely and professional manner, and promptly report issues to the supervisor.
  • Manage production and daily production reports to ensure regulatory compliance, correct serving sizes, minimal waste, and theft control.
  • Monitor sales lines for customer control, record supervisor site visits, and ensure staff can recognize a reimbursable meal.
  • Complete required annual United States Department of Agriculture Professional Standards training and ensure kitchen staff complete their required training hours.
  • Maintain meals-per-labor-hour, food cost, and food inventory ratios to meet business requirements.
  • Approve and ensure accurate monthly employee payroll, approve time off, manage staffing, and coordinate coverage for absences and turnover.
  • Build positive relationships with Nutrition Services staff, school staff, students, parents, and the surrounding community.
  • Maintain kitchen financial records, including deposits, forms, and reports for the Colorado Department of Education.
  • Ensure accurate collection, counting, and recording of cash collected at the site.
  • Monitor compliance with school food service regulatory agencies, track regulatory changes, and provide sustainable solutions.
  • Manage the breakfast program when applicable.
  • Train and develop kitchen staff, create and revise training materials, deliver safety and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point training, and monitor safety and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point practices.
  • Manage and train up to four kitchen assistants and provide growth and cross-training opportunities for employees.
  • Communicate district and department information to kitchen staff through voicemail, email, and newsletters.
  • Oversee sanitation and cleaning of kitchen facilities, equipment, and areas.
  • Maintain unit security and follow safe and acceptable food preparation practices.
  • Manage health inspections and site reviews of the kitchen.
  • Maintain food inventory, place orders by required deadlines, and ensure inventory records remain accurate in the inventory system.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
