About the job
- Maryland licensure as a psychologist is required.
- Credentialing as a Licensed Psychologist by the Kennedy Krieger Institute Medical Staff, with specialty privileges in Clinical Neuropsychology, is required.
- A doctoral degree in Psychology from an APA/CPA-accredited college or university is required.
- Completion of an APA/CPA-accredited predoctoral internship with supervised experience in clinical neuropsychology is required.
- Completion of a two-year postdoctoral residency in clinical neuropsychology is required.
- A minimum of two years of experience working with children with intellectual or developmental disabilities is required; this experience may be satisfied through postdoctoral residency training in clinical neuropsychology.
- Select, administer, and score psychological and neuropsychological tests assessing intellectual functioning, neuropsychological status, personality structure, interests, aptitudes, adaptive function, and academic achievement.
- Interpret assessment results to understand brain-behavior relationships using current research in neuropsychological assessment and available evidence-based approaches.
- Write comprehensive neuropsychological assessment reports, including diagnostic interpretations and next-step management or strategy plans.
- Participate in weekly case conferences or interdisciplinary staff meetings as needed to discuss and evaluate patient diagnoses and treatment or management, and formulate rehabilitation plans.
- Provide interpretative information to parents, primary caregivers, teachers, and therapists, and provide short-term counseling to parents as needed to effect changes in child management.
- Conduct intake interviews to ascertain client needs and document interview results.
- Assist the Department Director and Clinical Director in developing clinical initiatives.
- Enter assessment results into the Neuropsychology Department and/or database.
- Enter reports into the Kennedy Krieger Institute electronic health record system.
- Maintain productivity standards.
- Maintain documentation and reporting standards.

August 24, 2026 The Kennedy Krieger Institute and Maryland Healthcare Ethics Committee Network (MHECN) are jointly hosting an Ethics Conference from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Nov. 6. The live, interactive virtual workshop is intended for clinical social workers, ethics consultants, ethics committee members, care coordinators, behavioral health clinicians, and health care professionals involved in ethics consultation or documentation. The keynote speaker will be Steve O'Neill, LICSW, BCD, JD, director of behavioral health, OpenNotes Program, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, who is a longtime faculty member of the Harvard Medical School and Simmons University School of Social Work. MHECN is a membership organization, established by the Health Law Program at the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law.
