Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant or Home Health Aid certification is preferred but not required.
  • Medication Assistance license or certificate, where applicable under state regulations, is preferred.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications are preferred.
  • Must complete all state-required and Experience Senior Living-specified training programs.
  • Able to read and comprehend simple instructions and short correspondence, write simple correspondence, and present information effectively in one-on-one and small-group situations.
  • Able to apply common-sense understanding to detailed written or verbal instructions and deal with difficult situations.
  • Able to communicate effectively with management, team members, residents, family members, vendors, referral sources, and outside contacts.
  • Able to make independent decisions.
  • Must communicate in a warm, friendly, and caring manner and have a passion for working with and around senior citizens.
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
  • Able to work varied schedules, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Appearance must be neat, clean, and according to dress code.
  • Able to deliver high-quality service, address service failures, and prioritize customer needs.
  • Able to clearly present information verbally, read and interpret complex information, speak with residents, family members, and customers, and listen effectively.
  • Able to communicate helpfully while building credibility and rapport.
  • Able to work cooperatively with a group to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Able to be tactful, maintain confidences, foster an ethical work environment, discourage inappropriate coworker behavior, give proper credit, and handle situations honestly.
  • Able to remain open to new information, adapt to changing demands and customer needs, and transition effectively between tasks.
Responsibilities
  • Assist residents with personal care and activities of daily living as assigned or requested and in accordance with the service plan.
  • Perform daily housekeeping tasks using established procedures and standards.
  • Perform assigned laundry duties.
  • Review and participate in 24-hour reports, shift-change reports, and verbal reports as needed.
  • Assist residents to and from scheduled life-enrichment programs.
  • Promote residents’ personal choices, independence, and spiritual needs.
  • Provide verbal encouragement and support to residents.
  • Prioritize tasks to ensure residents receive appropriate services as their requests and needs change.
  • Inform the Director of Health & Wellness when a resident’s needs change.
  • Communicate with other departments about residents’ needs during the shift.
  • Respond promptly to resident pendant or wearable-device calls.
  • Ensure compliance with new resident care needs.
  • Maintain established infection-control practices.
  • Report all accidents and incidents to a supervisor as soon as possible, regardless of severity.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of residents’ personal-care information.
  • Honor residents’ personal and property rights.
  • Be knowledgeable about and prepared for emergencies, including disasters and fires.
  • Help residents transition from home to the community through thoughtful engagement.
