Responsibilities
  • Develop new, innovative solutions to problems plaguing the seismic industry using knowledge of signal processing, wave propagation, and numerical optimization to develop and test high-end algorithms, sequences, or programs with predefined geophysical or engineering content
  • Participate in the validation of contributions with senior Research staff and Production staff by analyzing and evaluating processing and imaging results on synthetic and field data
  • May work independently or as part of team, but always in close collaboration with Seismic Imagers, remaining in-tune with production demands and industry trends
  • Work closely with Software Engineers on the development, deployment, and improvement of high-performance computing applications on GPU and CPU architectures based on new imaging techniques and technological advances
  • May be asked to present your work and results to colleagues and clients, as well as externally at conferences and workshops, and to prepare technical articles for industry proceedings and journals

  • Knowledge of geophysical concepts and seismic imaging/inversion
  • Experience with finite difference and wave propagation

Viridien commences Walker Ridge Reimaging Extension in US Gulf. Viridien has recently launched its Walker Ridge Reimaging Extension in the US Gulf. With the support of industry partners, the initiative expands on the success of its original Walker Ridge Reimaging program. Fast-track results for this new project are already available. The 4,406 km[2] extension covers 189 new OCS blocks in the highly prospective Walker Ridge area, in addition to 46.5 blocks overlapping the original Walker Ridge Reimaging program over a 1,085 km[2] area. The total program coverage of 5,491 km[2] over 235.5 blocks will deliver a premium exploration dataset across a large acreage position with significant infrastructure-led exploration (ILX) potential. Viridien is applying its seismic imaging expertise and advanced Time-Lag Full Waveform Inversion (TLFWI) technology to enhance subsurface understanding and provide greater geological insight into this complex deepwater environment. The project will deliver a higher-quality data set over the extension area, seamlessly merged with the original Walker Ridge Reimaging volume, with final results expected to be available in early 2027. Viridien kicks off Phase I of Guyana Shallow Water 3D seismic survey. Viridien has commenced Guyana Shallow Water 3D Phase I, following its previously announced agreement with the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana and BGP to launch a major multi-client 3D seismic acquisition and imaging program offshore Guyana. The program has received strong industry support. Phase I will cover shallow water acreage across Lot 3 and connect to legacy surveys in the area that will later be reimaged. For the project, the seismic data will be acquired by BGP, and Viridien will deliver high-end imaging using its proprietary advanced workflows, including shallow water demultiple and time-lag full-waveform inversion (TLFWI). Dechun Lin, Head of Earth Data, Viridien, said: "Our Guyana program is designed to enhance subsurface understanding, support future exploration planning and help unlock the hydrocarbon potential of this exciting frontier basin. Viridien and Aker BP have entered into a strategic partnership agreement to strengthen collaboration across multi-client ocean bottom node (OBN) seismic data acquisition, imaging, and technology development. The agreement establishes a five year co-operation framework designed to align strategy and bring consistent effort to innovation and technology development, with the goal of optimising exploration efforts on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. By combining Aker BP's operational experience with Viridien's industry-leading imaging technology and expertise, this partnership also expands Viridien's multi-client OBN coverage to support large-scale exploration. Together, the com-panies aim to accelerate the discovery and development of additional reserves.
