About the job

Requirements
  • A master's degree in Mental Health or Social Work, or a doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology or Counselor Education, from a CACREP- or APA-accredited program, or a closely related field.
  • A license, or eligibility to obtain a license within six months, to practice mental health in New York State.
  • At least 1–3 years of experience providing direct mental health services.
  • Experience providing crisis intervention services.
  • Experience providing brief, solution-focused psychotherapy.
  • Experience working with historically marginalized populations through culturally responsive individual, group, and community interventions.
  • Experience providing educational programming to large groups.
Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and group psychotherapy to undergraduate, graduate, and non-traditional students.
  • Provide crisis intervention to students experiencing emotional crises.
  • Provide emergency on-call services to students in crisis and consult with other college personnel on a rotating basis.
  • Provide case management, collaborate with key personnel, and ensure continuity of care, including referrals to community providers.
  • Develop and initiate culturally sensitive outreach, prevention, and wellness programming for a diverse range of student concerns and issues.
  • Develop and initiate education and training programs for faculty, staff, and administrators to support student well-being.
  • Engage with historically underrepresented students to support their personal development, well-being, and academic success through culturally responsive individual, group, and community interventions.
  • Strengthen digital literacy through education and application of digital technologies for information gathering, utilization, and data management while promoting a security culture.
  • Attend and actively participate in required meetings and training sessions.
  • Complete required federal, state, institutional, and departmental training.
  • Engage in a planned program of professional development and maintain skills and knowledge relevant to the position and technology, best practices, evolving operational requirements, and industry trends.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

  • Clinical experience in a college counseling center setting is strongly preferred.
  • A holistic wellness philosophy and approach is preferred.
