Responsibilities
  • Plan, direct, and control the efforts of the Maintenance staff.
  • Direct employee training to improve work performance and familiarize staff with company policies and procedures.
  • Work directly with Store Management Teams and Vendors to oversee repairs and maintenance of store equipment.
  • Compare and evaluate maintenance activities to determine the best course of action to improve operations and the condition of machines and equipment.
  • Observe safety and security procedures.
  • Ensure that equipment and materials are used properly.
  • Report unsafe conditions to the General Manager.
  • Perform light maintenance duties on all elements of equipment.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.

(WTVD) - North Carolina could be getting its second Buc-ee's, this time in Rocky Mount. The city confirmed Thursday that the Texas-based convenience store chain is looking to develop nearly 34 acres near the I-95 and Halifax Road interchange. Buc-ee's has requested that the property be rezoned, and the city is reviewing the request. The chain's first North Carolina location is currently under construction along I-40/I-85 in Mebane and is expected to open in November 2027. Buc-ee's travel centers are known for their large number of gas pumps, brisket sandwiches and large, clean restrooms.

That is meaningful new progress since its last update on Florida's next Buc-ee's locations, but it does not mean construction can begin yet. The travel center is planned near Interstate 95 and Indrio Road, northwest of Fort Pierce in St. Lucie County. Local planning officials said in early October that the county-level process is essentially complete, shifting attention to remaining approvals from state agencies. My latest videos. State approvals are now the big hurdle. The most important distinction is that "local hurdles cleared" is not the same thing as final approval to build. According to NewsRadio WFLA's October 1 report, Buc-ee's is still awaiting final approval from the Florida Department of Transportation and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection before construction can begin. That makes this a concrete step forward, but not a groundbreaking announcement. No firm construction-start date has been announced. The project has been working through approvals for years. Buc-ee's bought roughly 46 acres near the interchange in 2024, and county commissioners later approved zoning changes connected with the development. Plans have continued through site-plan and permitting reviews since then. The proposed store would be one of Buc-ee's biggest. Planning documents have described a store of roughly 76,000 square feet, with 120 fueling positions, 18 electric-vehicle charging spaces and more than 700 parking spaces. Those numbers help explain why the approval process involves more than a routine convenience-store permit. One detail worth treating carefully is the store's size ranking. Earlier reports suggested the Florida location could become the world's largest Buc-ee's, but the company later pushed back on that claim, explaining that planning departments can measure building size differently. Buc-ee's says its Luling, Texas, location remains its largest. The opening timeline has moved as the approval process has stretched out. Current local reporting points to 2028 as the target, but Buc-ee's has not announced a specific opening date or groundbreaking date for the Fort Pierce-area store. When it does open, the location would push Buc-ee's farther down Florida's Atlantic coast, giving I-95 travelers a store well south of the chain's existing Daytona Beach and St. Augustine locations. The location is also notable because it would serve the Treasure Coast rather than simply filling in another stop near one of Buc-ee's existing Florida stores. Its position at I-95 and Indrio Road would put the chain within easier reach of drivers traveling between Central Florida and the heavily populated communities farther south. For now, the newest development is narrower but still significant: St. Lucie County's local hurdles are largely behind the project. Construction on new Kansas City Buc-ee's progressing quickly, opening date moved. KANSAS CITY, Kan. - A popular mega-convenience store is opening one of its newest locations earlier than expected. The Buc-ee's coming to Kansas City, Kansas, was originally slated to open next October. Construction is coming along fast and it is now set to open in the spring. The store will have 120 gas pumps, a large car wash area and 12 electric vehicle charging stations. The good news comes after Urbandale, Iowa, rejected plans for it to be home to the first Buc-ee's in the Hawkeye State. Several Iowa cities have thrown their hat in the ring to claim that title. Those include West Des Moines, Norwalk, Colfax and Bondurant. Even Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds is helping find a community willing to welcome the new travel center, famous for its giant size, exceptionally clean restrooms and around a hundred gas pumps. Lastly, contrary to someone's wishful thinking, a Buc-ee's will not be coming to Baring, Missouri. For the next few months, the closest location to the Tri-States is in Springfield, Missouri.

After months of uncertainty around the southern Louisiana store, the company has now set a November 9 groundbreaking ceremony - an important step beyond the status covered in its earlier look at where both Louisiana Buc-ee's projects stand. The ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. at the future store site near Louisiana Avenue and Interstate 10 in Lafayette. Buc-ee's has not announced a specific opening day, and its own website still lists Lafayette with an estimated 2028 opening. My latest videos. What the November date actually means. Acadiana News First reported that Buc-ee's set the November 9 ceremony for what it described as the company's first South Louisiana store. That is the clearest public milestone yet for a project that has spent years moving through planning, design and infrastructure work. The date is worth reading carefully, though. The site has not been sitting untouched while everyone waits for a ceremonial shovel. Local development outlet Developing Lafayette reported in August that the project had received a full vertical building permit and that site and foundation work had already been underway. That means the November event is best understood as the formal groundbreaking ceremony - not necessarily the literal start of all construction activity. That distinction matters because Buc-ee's projects often advance in stages. Road work, drainage, utilities, permits and site preparation can happen before a highly visible groundbreaking event. For Lafayette residents, the bigger takeaway is that the project now has both active work and a company-announced ceremony on the calendar. Lafayette is still behind Ruston. Louisiana is getting two Buc-ee's locations, but Lafayette is not expected to be the first one to open. Buc-ee's currently lists Ruston for 2027 and Lafayette for 2028. The company also warns that its estimated opening dates can change, so neither year should be treated as a guaranteed grand-opening date. Ruston is farther along and is expected to bring Buc-ee's to Louisiana first. Lafayette would then give the chain a major Interstate 10 location in the southern part of the state, near the I-49 corridor and within easy reach of travelers moving between Texas and southeastern Louisiana. What happens next. The November 9 ceremony gives Lafayette something it has lacked for much of this project: a concrete near-term milestone. It does not lock in a 2028 opening day, and plenty can still change during a build of this size. But the project has moved well beyond the stage where residents were simply waiting for signs that Buc-ee's was still coming. For now, the company's public timeline remains 2028. The difference is that Lafayette finally has a visible construction milestone to watch on the way there.
