Electronic Arts (EA) publishes and distributes video games across consoles, PCs, and mobile devices. It creates games and extends their life with live services, such as downloadable content (DLC), in-game purchases, and subscriptions, to keep players engaged over time. Its products are sold as digital downloads and physical copies, with additional value through ongoing content and a subscription plan called EA Play that grants access to a library of games and perks. Compared with competitors, EA blends a broad lineup of genres and platforms with a steady revenue model based on live services and memberships, rather than relying only on initial game launches. Its goal is to inspire the world through play while building stable, recurring income by maintaining active player communities and expanding engagement across geographies.

EA Sports FC 27 FUT updates boost rewards and simplify squadron building. Discover more Computer & Video Games Sony PlayStation Table of Contents Discover more Consumer Electronics Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence Introduction. EA Sports FC 27 is shaping up to be an exciting update for soccer fans, especially for those who love the popular Ultimate Team mode, often called FUT. Recently, EA announced some major changes coming to FUT 27, and these updates are designed to make the game more enjoyable, less frustrating, and more rewarding for players. If you've ever felt that building your dream squad was tricky or that some challenges were just too much work, these updates might be exactly what you've been waiting for. Video Games This article breaks down the main changes announced for FUT 27, including a new way to complete Squad Building Challenges (SBCs), cool new item types, better rewards, and fresh gameplay features. Let's dive in and see what's changing and why it matters to players and fans alike. Simplified Squad Building Challenges (SBCs). If you've played FUT before, you know that Squad Building Challenges can sometimes feel like a puzzle mixed with a grind. In previous versions, you had to submit very specific teams to complete these challenges, often requiring a tight mix of players from certain clubs, leagues, or nationalities. This meant lots of buying and selling, and sometimes frustration if you were just one player short. EA is changing all that with a new point-based system for SBCs in FUT 27. Instead of only handing in exact sets, players will earn points for the player items they submit, making it easier to swap and match different players. For example, if a challenge needs players from a certain league and nationality, you can now mix and match items more freely, as long as you reach the point target. This change means less obsessing over that one rare card and more flexibility. Of course, some traditional SBCs won't disappear completely, but overall, this system cuts back on the grind and lets players enjoy building their squads without headache. New item types and collection features. One of the fresh features in FUT 27 is the introduction of a new rarity called "Holographic" items. These items look visually stunning with shiny effects, making your squad stand out on the field. The catch? Despite their flashy look, these Holographic items have the same stats as the regular ones. It's cosmetic, but it adds a cool new touch of customization for collectors. Alongside this, EA is bringing in the FUT Gallery - a new way to keep track of all the player items you've ever collected. Even if you've sold or used a card before, the Gallery remembers it. This is great for completionists and anyone who likes to see their collection grow without losing history. But the Gallery isn't just a storage space. Players can create sets within the Gallery by grouping certain items together. Completing these sets can earn players rewards, and upgrading items can improve your overall grade. It adds an extra layer of goals and progression that keeps things interesting beyond just playing matches. Improved rewards and gameplay modes. EA is also beefing up the rewards in FUT 27 to make every match feel worth your time. Coin rewards per match are going up, and the Season Progress system is getting better boosts. This means you'll climb the ranks and unlock new content faster, making FUT feel more rewarding overall. For those who prefer playing solo, there's a brand-new set of Live Events tailored just for single players. These events offer fresh challenges and chances to earn cool prizes without needing to join online matches. In addition to these modes, FUT 27 introduces The Grounds, an open-world mode that adds a new dimension to gameplay. Early previews hint at tweaks to gameplay mechanics too, like changes to corner kicks, aiming to make the play feel more realistic and fun. And for those wondering about spending money, EA has stated there will be moderate monetization at launch. This should ease concerns that the game will push aggressive microtransactions, keeping the focus on fun and fair play. Discover more PlayStation Company News Web Apps & Online Tools Conclusion. To sum it up, the big changes to EA Sports FC 27 Ultimate Team aim to make the game easier to enjoy and more rewarding. Simplified SBCs mean less headache and more creativity when building your team. New item types and the FUT Gallery add style and collection goals that deepen the experience. Enhanced rewards and new gameplay modes ensure players stay engaged longer and have more ways to play. All these updates show EA's goal to keep both new and long-term FUT players happy by cutting down on grind and boosting fun. As the release date gets closer, FUT fans have plenty to look forward to. Growth Profiles in FC 27: six different ways to build a career (and seven positions per player). EA has detailed FC 27's player data: six Growth Profiles that decide when each footballer peaks and when he fades, up to seven positions with no penalty, Squad Ranks, dynamic potential, and coaches who no longer boost attributes but estimate the ceiling instead. Electronic Arts games Discover more Video Games Video Game Development Premium tool subscription Tl;dr. EA SPORTS FC 27 rebuilds Career Mode's player data with six Growth Profiles that decide when a footballer breaks out, when he hits his ceiling and when he declines; up to seven playable positions with no penalty thanks to dynamic Baseline OVR; a new Squad Ranks system that predicts what each player would bring to your squad; a Dynamic Potential that shifts with performance and now applies to AI teams in your Deeper Simulation leagues too; and coaches who stop boosting attributes and instead estimate your players' real ceiling. If Dynamic OVR was the headline, this is the small print that will actually change how you build a squad for the long haul. EA has detailed the player data side of EA SPORTS FC 27 and there's some big stuff in there: growth profiles, seven positions per footballer, a brand-new squad rating system and a radical shift in what coaches are for. Here's everything that's been confirmed. Growth Profiles: six ways to build a career. This is the big one. To deepen the authenticity of player development and replicate the variety of career paths you see in football, EA is introducing Growth Profiles, a new system that sets each player's skill ceilings. Electronic Arts games EA's own diagnosis is refreshingly honest: historically, player development followed a fairly standardised trajectory. Players differed in quality, but the underlying shape of their careers was almost always the same. Real football hardly ever works like that. Some players break through early and peak very young. Others keep improving well into their late twenties. Some sustain elite performance for years. Others enjoy shorter peaks before declining. Growth Profiles are designed to reflect those differences. Six distinct profiles have been introduced, governing how players develop, peak and decline across their careers. Each profile shapes how different attribute groups evolve over time, letting every footballer follow a development path that looks more like a real career. The stated goal: more variety between players, more authentic progression curves and long-term squad planning that finally makes sense. What this means when you're signing players Two youth prospects with the same rating and the same potential can have completely different careers depending on their profile. Looking at the number isn't enough any more: you have to ask *when* that player will hit his best level and *how long* it will last. Squad Ranks: what he'll actually bring. There's a new player evaluation system that applies both to the players already at your club and to the ones you scout, and it predicts the impact any player would have on your squad. Computer & Video Games Here's the interesting part: how accurate that prediction is depends on your backroom staff's knowledge. Coaches make the call on your own players; Scouts on everyone else. Max Positions: up to seven, no penalty. Players will now have up to seven positions they can perform in. On top of that, dynamic Baseline OVR determination based on the position they're playing has been reintroduced. In practice that means two very concrete things: * A player deployed in any of his six preferred secondary positions won't be penalised for playing out of his main position. * Dynamic OVR bonuses from Form and Morale are applied on top of that secondary position's Baseline OVR when you play him there. Translation: versatility stops being a patch job and becomes a genuine asset when you pick your XI. Development and Dynamic Potential. Dynamic OVR is directly tied to player development. Strong performances bring long-term rewards: players who consistently exceed expectations can raise their ceiling. Equally, extended spells of poor form can cause a loss of development momentum. That creates a far tighter link between performance and progression over time. Development becomes something the manager actively influences with his decisions, rather than a separate system ticking along on its own in the background. And one detail plenty of people were waiting for: Dynamic Potential now applies to every AI team in the leagues you've selected for Deeper Simulation. The whole world evolves, not just your dressing room. Coaches no longer boost attributes. This is probably the biggest conceptual shift of the lot. In real football, a manager can't guarantee a player's ceiling: he leans on Coaches, Scouts, observation, data and experience to estimate the trajectory. Career Mode now reflects that. * Coaches no longer directly improve player Attributes. Instead, they contribute to understanding and projecting Potential. * Different coaches offer different levels of accuracy in that assessment. Higher-quality coaches are more likely to correctly identify a player's true ceiling; lower-quality ones may underestimate potential. * The Head Coach of each department is responsible for evaluating the potential of the players in his group. To go with the change, the coaching structure has been simplified: staffing requirements drop to twelve coaches spread across Goalkeeping, Defence, Midfield and Attack. Potential stops being a fact and becomes an estimate Under this system, the potential number you see isn't gospel: it's your backroom staff's reading of the player. Investing in good coaches goes from a marginal upgrade to the thing that decides whether you get your prospects right or wrong. Scouting, transfers and squad building. Dynamic OVR also changes how you assess players outside your club, and how much your scouting network matters in that assessment. No more attribute drip-feed. The gradual attribute reveal is gone. Attributes are shown instantly. In its place there are four scouting stages that deliver specific information to complement the Scout Reports: * Tactical Fit - focused on match performance and ability. * Future - focused on potential and growth. * Financial Assessment - focused on gauging the player's interest in a possible move and the costs of getting the deal done. * Status - focused on the player's happiness and how likely he is to fancy joining your club. Scouting surfaces far more information about a player's current state, helping you understand not just who he is but how he's performing right now. Form and Morale become important considerations when you assess transfer targets. The market moves with momentum. Transfers get more dynamic because a player's value no longer depends purely on his long-term quality, but also on his current circumstances: * A player in the middle of an exceptional season can command a premium. * A player going through a rough patch of form can end up undervalued, even though his long-term quality is still enormous. The result is an ecosystem where performance, reputation and value are far more connected. And yes: that opens the door to buying low on the guy who's struggling and selling high on the one who's flying. UI and transparency: you'll see the why. With Dynamic OVR at the heart of Career Mode, you won't just watch ratings change: you'll understand why they change. Dynamic OVR breakdowns show up across Team Management, the Squad Hub, Development Plans, Scout Reports and more. You'll be able to see how Form, Morale and Match Fitness contribute to Dynamic OVR, and check per-attribute breakdowns for visibility on how the different systems influence a player's quality. What this changes about how you plan. * Signing young is no longer a one-size-fits-all bet. With six different profiles, the timeline of that career matters as much as the ceiling. * Versatility is worth money. Seven positions with no penalty completely changes how you value a winger who can also tuck inside. * Your backroom staff is a scouting investment, not a gym one. Coaches don't improve anyone: they tell you (more or less accurately) how far he can go. * A rival star's dip in form is your window in the market. What are Growth Profiles in FC 27? How many positions can a player play in FC 27? Do coaches still boost attributes in FC 27? What are Squad Ranks? Is the gradual attribute reveal still in scouting? EA goes private August 4 with an 80/100 woke score - and the perfect LGBTQ rating 246 companies just dropped. By BuyWokeFree Staff Aug 1, 2026 0 views On Tuesday, August 4, Electronic Arts stops being a public company. A consortium led by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, Silver Lake, and Jared Kushner's Affinity Partners closes a roughly $55 billion take-private - the largest leveraged buyout ever recorded, at $210 a share, funded with about $36 billion in equity and $20 billion in committed debt. CEO Andrew Wilson keeps his job. The shareholders who could have voted on the company's politics will not exist anymore. Company Diversity Reports The number that makes this story. Here is the receipt that matters. In February, the Human Rights Campaign published its 2026 Corporate Equality Index - the LGBTQ workplace scorecard that functioned for two decades as corporate America's social credit rating. Fortune 500 participation fell 65% in a single year, from 377 companies down to 131. That is 246 of the biggest companies in America deciding, all at once, that they no longer wanted the grade. CNBC and Fox News both reported the collapse. HRC's own framing was that this reflects "a shift in how employers are approaching transparency" - which is a long way of saying they left. Among the companies that walked: Tractor Supply, Walmart, Ford Motor, and Lowe's. Tractor Supply - the first Fortune 300 company to kill its DEI and ESG commitments outright, back in June 2024 - now carries a 10/100 on its scale, one of the lowest scores of any national retailer Buy Woke Free rate. Walmart still sits at 90/100, Ford at 66/100, and Lowe's at 64/100, because leaving an index is not the same thing as changing your policies. But they left. Recommended Products As an Amazon Associate Buy Woke Free earn from qualifying purchases. Electronic Arts did not leave. Its brand file records EA holding a perfect 100 on the 2026 index and taking the Equality 100 Award alongside the 533 other companies that scored full marks. In a year when a quarter of the Fortune 500 stopped filling out the form, EA filled out the form. Anti-Woke Brand List Why EA scores 80/100. EA lands at 80/100 - extremely woke on the BuyWokeFree scale, and the breakdown is more interesting than the headline. * Pride and LGBTQ programming: still shipping. Pride content remains in The Sims, and Apex Legends maintains an openly LGBTQ character roster. This is product, not a press release - it is the part of EA's politics you actually buy. * HRC Corporate Equality Index: a perfect score, per its brand file, held while the index's Fortune 500 base collapsed around it. * DEI infrastructure: intact. Its researchers found EA quietly scrubbed explicit DEI language from its annual filings and Impact Report beginning around May 2024 - but the underlying DEI Council and seven employee resource groups, including PRIDE, survived the edit. The words went. The apparatus stayed. * Political giving: this is where EA breaks the pattern, and Buy Woke Free will say so plainly. Contrary to a claim that circulates constantly online, EA operates no corporate PAC and has done no federal lobbying since 2010. On the political-contributions dimension, EA is close to a non-participant. That restraint is the single biggest reason it sits at 80 and not at 100. That distinction matters, and it is the difference between a scorecard and a smear. Microsoft - EA's largest competitor in gaming - scores a full 100/100, with a Global D&I division, perfect CEI record, CEO Action signatory status, and north of $25 million in political spending. EA does the culture. Microsoft does the culture and writes the checks. The rest of the gaming scoreboard. EA is not an outlier in its industry so much as the loudest holdout in a category that is quietly deflating: * Microsoft - 100/100. The maximum score on every dimension Buy Woke Free measure. * Sony - 80/100. Global Pride sponsorships from Tokyo to San Diego, perfect CEI scores, DEI programs across every division. Sony spent the last week being boycotted from the left over a Spider-Man producer and from the right over killing physical discs in 2028. The score did not move, because the score tracks policy, not the news cycle. * Electronic Arts - 80/100. * Activision Blizzard - 55/100. * Take-Two Interactive - 55/100, and trending down. As reported by GameFile, Take-Two deleted its LGBTQ accolades and renamed its "Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion" disclosure to "Community & Engagement" in 2025, keeping that language into its FY2026 filing. It now frames hiring around merit. This is what the retreat looks like when a publisher actually does it. * Ubisoft - 45/100. Still the most vocally DEI-forward publisher in gaming with no sign of a rollback, though as a French company much of its social disclosure is mandated by EU law rather than chosen. Its US political footprint is effectively zero. Compare that spread to its non-woke video game brands and gaming and interactive entertainment category pages and the shape is obvious: the industry's two biggest names are also its two most committed, and the scores drop as the studios get smaller and less exposed to American institutional pressure. Anti-Woke Brand List Recommended Products As an Amazon Associate Buy Woke Free earn from qualifying purchases. Does Saudi ownership change anything? This is the question everyone is going to ask on Tuesday, and the honest answer is: Buy Woke Free do not know yet, and nobody who tells you otherwise does either. What Buy Woke Free can say is structural. A public EA answered to index funds, proxy advisors, and shareholder resolutions - the exact machinery that built the DEI era in the first place. A private EA owned overwhelmingly by a sovereign wealth fund answers to one owner. The pressure that produced the perfect CEI score is being removed. Whether the score follows is a 2027 question. It is also worth noting who is actually angry about this deal. The organized backlash to the EA buyout has come from the left, not the right - objections to Saudi ownership, to Kushner's involvement, to the debt load. Conservatives have largely been indifferent. That is an unusual alignment, and it is a reminder that "woke" and "unpopular with the right" are not the same measurement. Recommended Products As an Amazon Associate Buy Woke Free earn from qualifying purchases. The bottom line. Electronic Arts scores 80/100. It earned that by keeping a perfect LGBTQ workplace rating in the year 246 Fortune 500 companies walked away from one, and by shipping Pride content in the products themselves. It avoided a 100 only because it does not buy politicians. If that matters to how you spend, EA's catalog is most of what you would recognize - Madden, EA Sports FC, The Sims, Apex Legends, Battlefield. The alternatives inside gaming are not clean either; Ubisoft at 45 is the lowest major publisher Buy Woke Free rate, and that is still "woke" on its scale. This is a category with no 10/100 Tractor Supply in it yet. Check the score before you preorder. On August 4, the company you are buying from changes owners - but not, as of today, its politics. EA plans to evolve The Sims 4 Marketplace "alongside the game" Electronic Arts doesn't plan to stop with adding more features to The Sims 4 Marketplace, according to the latest message posted by Vice President of EAX. Video Muted The Sims 4 Marketplace was first launched as a game-only portal for buying in-game content - available first on PC and Mac. Then the Marketplace extended for Xbox and Playstation players just a few weeks after that, and this week Sims Community got the introduction of The Sims 4 Marketplace on the Web. Allowing players to purchase content directly from their browsers (for PC / Mac) and access an updated look and feel of The Sims 4 Store. ADVERTISING The message. In yesterday's message posted by EAX Vice President Joseph Traverso there was a section talking about the evolution of The Sims 4 Marketplace. Joseph mentioned all the ways The Sims 4 Marketplace is flexible, connected and "just works" - but also mentioned something in the Evolution part of the section. Saying that "We have some amazing plans for the future to evolve The Sims 4 Marketplace alongside the game and the emerging needs of its players". Read the full message below: Yesterday Sims Community launched the latest chapter on this journey by bringing The Sims 4's in-game marketplace to the web. Sims Community is excited about this new experience for a few key reasons: Flexibility - Sims Community know its players value choice when it comes to the platforms on which they play their games, but with choice can often come complexity. When you buy The Sims 4 content for PC from The Sims 4 Marketplace, it "just works" - regardless of whether you play on EA App (which Sims Community hope!), Steam, or Epic Games Store! Connection - It's its mission to help Makers amplify the amazing products they are creating for The Sims 4 Marketplace - and previously its Maker content was limited to in-game purchasing only. With the new The Sims 4 Marketplace on the web, PC players can now purchase all this amazing Maker content without first having to launch the game! Evolution - Sims Community has some amazing plans for the future to evolve The Sims 4 Marketplace alongside the game and the emerging needs of its players. Sims Community is incredibly excited about what the future holds and are excited to share what Sims Community is working on with you in the near future! Source: LinkedIn post What is the Evolution part about? The part that's 100% true is that EA plans to evolve The Sims 4 Marketplace with new features. However, the wording of the first sentence makes it seem like The Sims 4 Marketplace won't be the only thing evolving. The Sims 4 has a planned evolution too. In case you missed out on the recent Sims insider talks and speculation over the last few months, EA and Maxis plan to forever ditch releasing new Sims 4 Packs in exchange for an improved Base Game release and experience. Currently codenamed The Sims Project X, the next single player Sims experience plans to include new features like Open Neighborhood, improved Graphics and Gameplay among other things. The game is also rumored to get Expansion Pack features like Seasons, Milestones and more fan favorites, marking it as a new entry point for releasing further DLCs and expanding the current offering. That, or The Marketplace could also have an additional function in the release of The Sims Project Rene and Moola being transferable in the multiplayer Sims world. EA is not shy from saying that their publicly announced project that is Sims 4 Marketplace is doing well enough for further evolution. But it also seems they're slowly opening up to the talks of other Sims aspects evolving soon. What are your thoughts on the latest Sims 4 Marketplace statement?
